Fuel Burning Heaters - Standard??

Going to view a facelift 2009 3.0 TDV6 HSE tomorrow and with the exception of a sunroof it seems to be fully loaded, however I am quite keen to establish if it is fitted with a FBH as standard and where I should look to physically confirm its presence?

I had a very basic one on a previous Freelander and it was great, I work shifts which often sees me travelling home at 3am or into work at 6am so the beauty of being able to set it during the real cold months holds MASSIVE appeal!!

Can anyone tell me if they were standard fit and where I should look tomorrow to confirm??

Si

Yeah standard.

Passenger side under bonnet.

You probably need a £200+ kit to turn it on before the engine is running

Oh ok that's useful to know it's standard fit, is it not configurable on a timer via the onboard settings? I don't want to have a remote to switch it on, just looking to say set it for 5am and know that when I go out at 5.30 it's been on half hour, cabin is warm and glass defrosted - can I do that?

Generally when fitted they are not timed or controlled by RCU as that is an extra, (Could have been done by previous owner or some trims and option packs include it) but it will automatically turn on when temperatures are low enough to turn on when you start up and drive.

There is a excellent member on here who can do the additions etc, at a much reduced price than LR, as well as many other things at the same time if wanted. It was around £175 a year or so back, his avatar name on here is: Bodsy. John

Thanks Johnski, that's really helpful - so the basic system then, does it just increase the speed at which everything warms up on a cold day then if it doesn't kick in until the car is started?

You have PM Thumbs Up

That's correct Sit.

The later RRS2 can have a timed climate system enabled.

If you only want the timer you don't need any equipment, I got mine activated at a local independent who plugged in his machine. 2012 RRS SDV6

It is model year dependant, and most will find pre facelift L320 can't. Many didn't even have FBH. John
