MY15 5.0L Autobiography Trade In

I placed an order yesterday for a 2018 MY SVR.

Dealer offered £55k for my car which I bought new and will be 3 years old at the end of December. It has done 16.3k miles. And there is not a single mark on it and dealer said himself that they could put a "for sale" ticket on it without doing anything.

They will take it on 1 September. Is that a reasonable price or should I visit a couple of other dealers so see if I can get a better price?

Thanks
Jas Current RRS: MY18 SVR
Previous RRS: MY15 RRS 5.0L Autobiography

Depends what plate your car is, but 'trade' values for August 2017 on a 5.0 AB 5seater based on 30,000 miles:

2014/64 - £51,500
2015/64 - £54,500

It all depends what sort of discount you got on the SVR. It's cost to change remember, not just how much you get for the p/x. SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles.

Spec, mileage and condition as above.

And I am not expecting any discount on a MY18 SVR.

I d be shopping round , no discount on a my18 Svr is one thing, lowball part exchange is quite another,

You generally cannot have it both ways I.e - discount and a strong part exchange but equally the dealer shouldn't be allowed too either.

I m not expecting a discount on my18 Svr , but if I trade a car in I d want top end price for it.

Had no problem selling my 5ltr sc my64 last week for £56 26k miles and all wheels kerbed and two decent dents on passenger side due to idiot on M6 running into me at 80 mph - Censored in an audi!

Bought another my64 sc from dealer I px,d from and so far delighted with transaction, and secured 2.99% pcp to boot direct too!

I would still be looking for a discount on an my18 svr BTW and wouldn't stop looking g till secured a discount.

youre mad to px it to the dealer that wants to make so much money out of you. Sell it privately and make 5 to 10 grand. Better still, turn up at the stealer with no px and youll get a few grand knocked of the new one.

I know this because I was that dealer for many years Wink MY 14.5 SE SDV6 Loire Blue. Silver roof. 22's.

Presumably because he d shunted all the wheels and an Audi had a 'conversation' with the car on the m6.

I'm not sure if this is still true of some big dealerships which operate separate cost centres for new and used car sales. They seem to divorce the two issues - certainly in my case I got a good discount on my new car with a trade-in, and they said it wouldn't make any difference to my new-car deal whether I sold my old car privately in the meantime or not.

But you'd think the loss on the trade-in would be greater than the cost of repairs(?).

So the problem I had was last summer I bought my 64 plate and put a ton of cash into it to bring the monthly payments down.

Then over winter bought a plot of land in Perth shire and needed as much cash as was possible to put into said new home.

Hence I sold my car and financed 100% this new one and a 64 plate was all that I could afford at this time.

The moral of the story is don't put all your eggs in one basket Very Happy MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Regarding Part-ex and selling privately - many of us don't want the hassles and anxiety of selling a car privately. We don't want loads of tyre kickers and timewasters coming to our houses to view the car and then there is the problem of scammers / teleadvertiserts contacting us offering all sorts of deals to help us sell the car.............. Selling privately isn't for everyone, it is fine for those who have the patience/ time to deal with all the timewasters and I would prefer that the dealership has those issues and not me! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
