engine oil

When I bought my RR Sport 2011 they had just serviced it. I asked what engine oil they had used as I don't like to mix oils if I can help it. They told me they had used Petronas syntium 5000 FJ 5w-30.
However I don't seem to be able to find the exact spec. FJ seems to be the problem the ones I have found have different letter here. Is it just the same but upgraded or does it mean nothing. Reading past posts I see the oil must have a spec of M2C934-B The oill I've found has a spec of M2C948-B. Is that better, different or no good at all. When did buying oil become such a minefield

Thanks for the warning. Just got to find the right one now. I'd go back to the garage I bought the car from but its over 100 miles away. Lond way to go for a litre of oil.

As stated already and don't know why it would have been put in a RRS. It is a Fully Synthetic Oil made by a few companies see link: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-2125-ford-wss-...e-oil.aspx

Copied this from Opie Oils.

"Produced in 2012 for Ford 1.0L 3 cylinder EcoBoost petrol engines and also for the 1.25 16V, 1.4 16V, and 1.6 Ti and 16V EcoBoost's. These oil's when used in conjunction with Ford Eco engines produce high MGP. Oils that meet this spec are of low viscosity, normally around 5w-20" John

RRS MY12 SDV6 HSE. Sumatra Black/Ebony & Walnut + Dynamic Pack, + Cold Climate Pack + Memory Pack, Digital TV/DVD, Premium Leather, Cornering Lights, Cooler/Fridge Box, & most Options.

Hi,
your not saying Why you need the oil Question does it need topping up already (possible leak) or are you just getting a litre for Just in case.

wait for Tesco to have their oil offer on again Rolling Eyes

Although if the wrong oil Is in, maybe do a complete oil change for piece of mind and put in what you know is correct and you can source easily

Thumbs Up

See my reply to your other post about this same subject. Go to Halfords and get Castrol Magnatec A5 or Halford's own version thereof.

If you need to top up more than a tiny drop now and then, you're probably looking at a bigger issue than the make of oil. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
