Door un-openable !

Evening all. I've had my rrs sc for just over a year now and touch wood not had too many major issues ! Just little niggly ones!
I've been away for the weekend and on coming home went to open the osr door from the outside......nothing . No worries I thought, I'll open from the inside.......nothing . There doesn't seem to be any "mechanical" resistance that there is when opening any of the other doors so could it be a latch or snapped link ? I'm quite technical so have no worries of investigating but would appreciate if anyone has a guide for removing the door card so as to avoid any broken/scratched trim bits !

Hi,
there are some good write ups on here and disco site on door card removal,

http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/Rear_Door_Latch_Replacement

taken from a post with some good links

I have done the rear door card myself when the lock jammed shut. Card removal was straight forward, it was releasing the lock that was the pita Evil or Very Mad

I assume you checked the obvious and the child locks are still not on and you have tried the unlock button from the dash etc.

Thanks Adam . Yes I've tried the door lock/unlock button on dash . I also sat next to the osr door as I pressed the lock/unlock on the fob. As for the child lock there is only me drives and I've not messed with anything . I'd nip out and have a look now but as it's raining I'll wait till tomorrow and see how I get on . Are the child locks activated from the side of the door ( where the actual latch is ) ? Thanks for the links Thumbs Up

My son had a similar problem with his car, turned out to be a snapped cable.

Dont think it will be a snapped cable as both door handles fail to open the door. Inside and outside handles are connected at different points on the actuator.

If the actuator has failed your pretty stuffed at removing the actuator as its secured by 3 torx that are only accessed when the door is open. Big Cry

I had a OSR door lock fail, both handles would not release the locked state. Let hope its something simple if not you might find this useful if worse comes to it.

keep us posted what you find.

I had this problem. I sat there pressing the unlock button on the fob whilst trying to open the door from the inside and eventually it opened. I was sat there for around 2 minutes doing this but it worked. I don't really know what the problem was but it's been fine since. 2007 L320 3.6 TDV8 HSE Java Black
