Scotland 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black
recommendations for discs and pads for a 2012

Hi again.
Any recommendations for type of discs and pads welcome and best place to buy.
Have noticed that a lot of places i.e paddocks etc only list the 2.7 3.6 and petrol . Presume we fall inder the same umbrella as 2.7.

Thanks again.

Rod

Hello rod
Dont put cheap discs on. They rust and look rubbish.
I have recently put brembo UV coated discs all round. They look great, slow evenly and don't break the Bank.
Keep an eye on Amazon. I managed to get the below for £60.

Sorry those discs were the rear. Link to the front. I got 2 for £60, just got to be patient and keep an eye on the price.

As above, don't fit cheap discs. About 18 months ago the local garage called when in for the MOT to say the rear discs on my P38 were in bad condition, and I knew they were so was expecting this. I'd had the P38 7 years with the same discs, but whatever discs they have fitted are already in a terrible state (I was abroad at work so my wife said to just fix it), chunks falling off the pad face even and the P38 has been getting more use than ever lately so I'd have expected less corrosion.
I've read that many after market manufacturers use recycled metals so I'm wondering if the quality is less or even unknown.

I think I'll be sticking with genuine or a known OEM (even OEM can mean several things depending on supplier - I think it should be the supplier to LR, but some apparently mark OEM in that it meets original standards, or so I've read). 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine
14MY Range Rover Evoque Dynamic SD4 Black Pack - wife's
99MY Defender 90 TD5, Soft Top Conversion - my toy, and bairns favourite

Often it makes sense to buy parts direct from Land Rover if they are very specialised or may have been updated to solve a problem.

But for discs and pads it makes a lot less sense as you are just paying Land Rover double the price to put someone else's parts in a box.

May stand to be corrected here but where brakes are not Brembo branded billet calipers, as seems to be the case with those on the face-lift models, and they are just TRW no problem with buying those linked in my post above from Advanced Factors who provide an excellent service. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Buy direct from Dan at Duckworths (site sponsor). Buy Genuine. 2 year warranty. Cheap will warp. Ask me how I know.
Buy cheap, buy twice.

Yes I always fit all genuine LR parts, and those that are fitted by my LR service dealer are LR genuine, although they give option for cheaper parts on older vehicles.
See my post about 10 posts above this.

If doing DIY then Dan @ Duckworth are a great source of genuine parts at good prices.
Also remember there is a two year warranty on all LR genuine parts purchased from authorised outlets.

IMO only ever fit genuine on safety critical parts, you don't save money fitting cheap in the long run. Thumbs Up Whistle John

Buy from Dan cheaper than from main dealer then get your dealer to fit. Parts warranty unaffected as it makes no difference Visitor from fullfatrr.com
