Absolutely gutted, after 12 years of claims free driving a lapse of concentration caused me to mangle my rear door against a bollard in the Tesco Car Park. I think it is just the rear door that is damaged and all other panels look ok.

Any ideas of what a repair would cost, or would I be better off claiming on my insurance. I imagine my premiums would rise significantly over the next 5 years if I claim.

Also suggestions for any bodyshops in Manchester would be greatly appreciated.

Mate, I feel your pain, but don't be too disheartened, all can be fixed. Talking from 20 years experience in Warrington as a used dealer and countless paint jobs, I can tell you what youre looking at. Maximum 350 pounds and she'll look as good as new again. Being white helps a lot with colour match. They'll have it in and out of the paint shop in two days. Forget claiming on your insurance, they'll smash you hard on your next premium and so on. MY 14.5 SE SDV6 Loire Blue. Silver roof. 22's.

Really interesting to see what you get quoted, I had some dreaded lacquer peeling on the door that was just getting worse. I had fixed about 3 months ago and had quotes from 4 shops in the warwick area, best price I got was £350 (2 days). Not counting the £170 quote from the mobile shop sprayers, saw a shoddy outfit working on a customers car in our car park (all done 3 in hours)

Unless it going to be bodged with a load of filler, then I agree, £350 seems a bit optimistic.

The damage looks like skin/panel damage, which will need to be replaced and resprayed, it's not just a few creasless dents that can be pulled out. So I had a figure of c£2k in my head before I scanned down and read the comments.

One thing to bear in mid with the chosen repairer is to check that they are approved by Land Rover so you retain your anti-corrosion warranty, especially as the car is still within warranty. If my experience with LR bodyshops is anything to go by you will be told that the least expensive repair will be a while new door............ to give you an idea I required a new tailgate on my 1st Evoque in 2012, OK it was composite and not aluminium but at the end of the day a whole new body coloured tailgate with all new fittings direct from the factory cost me £1800 - I chose to pay it myself rather than claimon the insurance but when I got the final bill I had VAT to pay which is what brought the cost up a huge amount above the original quote. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

We now need bluestone to tell us how much has has been quoted and we can all stop guessing. I've written my estimate on a piece of paper to compare with actual ! Now sold 2010 TDV8 Santorini black, lots of extras and best car I ever owned, and there's been a few. I will be back.

However the quote he gets wont necessarily be a complete and accurate defining number of how much the cost to repair the door is. It will merely be a figure that the shop he takes it to thinks they can get away with charging. Furthermore, if he takes it to twenty different bodyshop repairer.....guess how many different figures he'll get. AJ1 probably knows the real cost, but these dealers will charge a fair chunk when they can, especially on a perceived insurance claim. I've got my guesstimate ready...... Gone:

Well gents I only bothered with 2 quotes, which will include a replacement door:

Land Rover Approved Bodyshop -£3000
Good independent Bodyshop - £2300

My excess is only £250 and after running a few new insurance quotes the claim adds about £275 to my premium so I think I am going to claim on my insurance.
