Still keeping the milk float SRE - a rear wheel drive Coupe isn't much good in winter, for carrying passengers or load lugging but it will do as a second vehicle for the grand tour Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

So getting back on topic - anyone driven one or owned it Confused

Perhaps someone owned a Lexus especially a hybrid who can share experiences Bow down

Malcolmw hasn't posted since March - he bought a Lexus hybrid about same time I took the plunge - are you still around Malcolm Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Yes, I still look at the RRS boards to see what the latest quality issues are. Wink

My Lexus RX450h has been very good in the (nearly) year I have had it. It is very silent and I have had no issues to report. The worst feature is the SatNav which is very old fashioned compared to the latest offers. I am averaging a true 35mpg on mixed driving.

Regarding the RC, these look great in the metal but are essentially a coupe version of the IS model. The very low number of RC that have been sold mean that the depreciation tends to be worse than the IS saloon. My partner has an IS300h and this is also of excellent build quality and has had no issues over the 18 months she has had it. She is getting about 45mpg.

I would recommend Lexus cars for quality and reliability but they are very different to the Range Rover offer and you need to test drive them to see if they suit you. The dealer service is light years better than LR and they will lend you a car for an extended period if you want.

Would I have another RRS? Not at the current pricing point for a typically equipped model. The pricing changes really make the RRS just too expensive. Regards

Malcolm

Thanks Malcolm - glad your happy with the move Bow down

Excellent point on the depreciation - I can get 8% off new but might be better looking at used/nearly new and keep it few years from what you say Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Cheers TDV8HST Thumbs Up

Looks great in Blue and the flesh - better than pics to be fair Cool

I admit RRS2 and Velar look nicer but quality and dealer experience just doesn't live up to price and lack of EV/PHEV/Hybrid doesn't help either IMHO Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Paul,

Take a look at the stuff on here:

http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/for...rc-f-club/

The other forums on this site are also quite interesting if you are considering a Lexus.

As mentioned above the RC is better looking "in the metal" than in pictures. Regards

Malcolm

Hi Muddy

As you can see by my sig, I have gone back into RRS1 ownership. It's my daily runaround, but I still have the M3 which has only done 8000 and a bit miles.

I don't care about fuel use (it's cheaper here) the V8 is doing 14.5 mpg but most of my driving is urban.

In many ways I have my ideal combo. When SWMBO says "back to 1 car" I will have to think SUV but I like big performance.

Bkhk - wouldn't say no to an i8 but swmbo might not be too pleased as she wants some money left to spend on her Laughing

Have you driven one? Not one for those with a stuff back as getting in and out is a bit tight. It goes well but the noise is synthetic. An odd thing, really, but would be nice for weekends I think. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

No - not driven an i8 - just admired in car parks and as they passed me Thumbs Up

I plan keeping the Mitsubishi for my practical vehicle so I could look at an all electric if I wait for Tesla Model 3 or i-pace Confused

Alternatively I could get an XC60/XC90 T8 and stick with 1 vehicle Mr. Green

Lexus, Volvo and Tesla all come out tops on reliability from my research - Jaguar appear to be rising too Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Well I've taken the first step and got a demonstrator on extended test drive and I like it Cool

Drove it home in rush hour and averaged 47 mpg so far but expect that to drop over weekend with some heavy foot action Wink

Surprised how comfortable it is on low profile tyres and rough roads - now to convince swmbo Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I've never been one to worry about the looks of a car when considering it, after all you can't see the outside when you're driving it, but that is not an attractively styled vehicle. The mpg sounds impressive for something that looks like it's intended to be a sporty saloon. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
