Doubtful the problem is the fuel rail/sensor. The fault does indicate fuel starvation so as you've fitted a new filter, next investigate for a possible faulty or worn fuel lift pump.

Thanks. Does that require removal and test or is there a simpler way?

Seem to recall someone on the forum managed to measure the fuel pump pressure with a gauge to determine a similar issue. Hopefully he'll see this and be able to help.

Is there any misfiring/hesitation prior to going into limp mode? If you can find someone with an IID tool willing to help, I think you may be able to read live values for the fuel rail sensor but it does sound like starvation, as the problem is occurring under load on an incline.

Just remembered that you won't be able to tap someone up to help with an IID tool as they have to be registered to the car, unless someone has the Pro version which is usually limited to garages/mechanics.
Rather than guessing and throwing parts at the problem, might be worth having an Indy look at it.

Hi. I'm having exactly the same faults and have done the same quick fixes that you have. Thought the fuel filter had solved the issue, but after three weeks of perfect running it's just come back.

Did they lift pump change fix the issue?

Out of interest, the first round of problems I had was P2290 control pressure too low. After the filter change it's now gone to P0087.

I've since run some EGR valve cleaner through the air intake and had no more issues. Not saying I've cured it for sure.........
