2009 3.0 TDV6 engine fault

Hi all,

Long time lurker first time poster.

I'm in dire need with my RRS. 2009 3.0 TDV6 with 60K on the clock. Bought it last year knowing it had a brand new engine at 50K (although not sure why)

This started weeks ago, first start in the morning i had what i thought was a misfire for 2-3 seconds. The car was shaking violently. After about two weeks this had progressed to about 30 seconds. After this time it would stop and would not return the rest of the day at all.

A code scan reveled glow plug on cylinder 1 was faulty, so i replaced all 6 as a matter of course.

Vibration was still happening with no faults showing.

It's gotten progressively worse over the weeks as I've been working to fix it. It now will not start on the first press of the button. On the second press it will start but it's shaking like crazy for about 30 seconds, again however once it clears its perfect the rest of the day.

I have so far replaced:

6 x glow plugs
6 x injectors
Fuel rail pressure sensor
Low pressure fuel pump
Fuel filter
Suction valve on the high pressure pump

Today i carried out a compression check and cylinder leakage test which showed Censored all. Compression is good on all cylinders with no leakage (this was done when cold)

So I'm now completely stumped as to what to do next, the only thing i can think of is something is wrong with the high pressure pump ??

Anyone have some thoughts on what could be wrong ?

Thanks

Yeah, at only 10k since a new engine i haven't stripped it down to inspect but as it's fine once settled im taking the timing as being ok.

Hi all,

Just to rule it out i blanked out the EGR's today, which made the EML come on and resulting codes but no change in the starting behavior.

Spain

I think if it was my car I would drop it off with Mikey, he is only about 50 or 60 miles away from you. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Used, they came out of a Disco 4 same year same engine with lower mileage (that i had access too Whistle )

Said Disco 4 started perfectly with its own injectors and still starts perfectly with my injectors now in it so i ruled them out.

Sometimes it's the simple things!

Have you checked for air leaks round the oil filler cap or PCV valve ?

Might be worth disconnecting the MAF sensor and seeing if that makes any difference.

What fault code reader is being used? Sometimes, the cheaper generic ones don't pick up all the manufacturer specific codes Question

I'd be inclined to have it on an IID/Autologic/SDD, just to confirm it's not a manufacturers code not being detected Thumbs Up

It's been on a Land Rover dealership machine, they picked up nothing. Sat in the dealership for 14 days then turned round and said the injectors needed coding Laughing Funny that as still doesn't run right after "coding"
