IN CAR DVD

I have been having problems with the loading of DVD's on the rear DVD player. Took the car into my dealer who have come back to me telling me that this is a known LR problem and will not replace/repair the DVD unit until a fix has been found! Shocked I asked how long this could be and the service manager told me anything from a week to a year! Shocked What are LR playing at here? Has anyone had a similar problem or am I being fed bull? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

If it's a mechanical issue can they not just replace the DVD drive? Or is there more to it than that?

It doesn't work !!!!!!!!!

Demand a NEW unit - what use is it if your kids can't load a DVD = a waste of money having it - If LR are unable to fix the problem that is there hard cheese. You shouild be entitled to an instant fix - or - a repalcement unit.

Phone LR cust Services imm & demand it is sorted right away Mad

I would quote the 1979 sales of goods act and mention trading standards while talking to your dealer that should do the trick and even if there is a inherent fault they should still replace it, Even if just to shut yiu up.

Land Rover really don't need to do anything.....nothing new there then. Under the act its up to dealer and you really don't need to put up with any of their rubbish. My factory fitted system works fine....therefore they can get it to work:- Here is some legal stuff you can quote to them, but do take note of the last para:-

Sale of Goods Act, Faulty Goods.

Relevant or Related Legislation: Sale of Goods Act 1979. Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994. The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002.

Key Facts:

• Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).

• Goods are of satisfactory quality if they reach the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking into account the price and any description.

• Aspects of quality include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety.

• It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract.

VA, can you describe the problem in more detail? There are a handful of TSBs recently issued regarding RSE malfunctions, I will be happy to look them up for you and see if any of those may apply. I, for one, sometimes find that disc # 1 (out of the 6 in the changer) is "locked out" and I can no longer select it unless I remove and reload the magazine in the changer. There is now a TSB for that.

Basically my system can only find disc 2 & 4 and will skip the other 4. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

VA, it does that even after you reload the magazine in the changer? Besides the obvious (DVD loaded the wrong way, incorrect region code), it sounds like a faulty changer to me. My problem and fix for it are detailed in the TSB below (LS415-005, rev. 3). I wonder if the same revision may fix your problem as well, although yours sounds more hardware-related to me.

Quote:
DVD Player Disc 1 Locked Out
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Range Rover Sport (LS) VIN: 6A900129 onwards
CONDITION SUMMARY:
DVD PLAYER DISC 1 IS LOCKED OUT
Situation: A customer may report a concern that, when using the in-car rear entertainment system, disc one will be highlighted on the High Level Display Front (HLDF) screen in addition to the current disc that is being played. Disc one has been locked out and can no longer be selected or played. A software conflict may be the cause.
Action: Should a customer express this concern, refer to the Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin to update the HLDF software.
PARTS:
No parts required
TOOLS:
IDS DVD103 with Patch File 4 (or later software) installed

umbertob - yes it happens even when I reload the cartridge. My dealer says it's LR HQ that wont replace the system, he has requested the replacement and LR wont give him one until the bug has been fixed! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Sounds like a fob off doesn't it, it didn't used to do it and others don't do it but it's a bug!?!?

Is there another dealer nearby you could approach to sound out 'LR HQ won't do it' claim? If another dealer does it for you then you know you are being lied to by dealer 1. Just a thought...

Good idea. I can't understand why they think it's a bug when it sound pretty much like your DVD drive has gone faulty. Where's the problem in simply replacing it? Question

The dealer admitts it is under warranty but say LR refuse to replace it. I've ask for confirmation of what they've told me then I will speak to LR themselves! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
