Change TDV8 for a SDV6?

Hi all, my present 60 plate TDV8 is my second such model, and I love it and after 8 years of ownership I know most of the foibles of the TDV8. However, at 80k miles, I'm looking at a 61 plate SDV6 with 30k miles and wonder what you reckon. Mine will be out of warranty in October so if I can get a dealer warranty (non LR but high end luxury dealer) that would save me circa £1k in year one.
So...what do you reckon? I guess it will cost circa £8k to change.
Thoughts please on the SDV6 as a vehicle against the wonderful grunt of the TDV8. MPG isn't really an issue to me, and I'm not that worried about the powered tailgate. I'm really only interested in what you all make of the SDV6 engine... Thumbs Up

I went from a v8 to a v6, I must say the lag on pull away was what I noticed most, you have to learn to be a lot more lead footed when pulling out of a busy junction, fuel economy was hardly noticeable probably because of the lead foot. For general running around the v6 is fine.
The beautiful rumble of a v8 can't be beat

Why change if you like what you've got? £11k gets you a lot of warranty and / or "self insured" maintenance work done. If you've owned it from new, even better because you know exactly how it's been treated / serviced etc.

You can get LR's extended warranty up to 100k miles or 10 years (needs to be less than both on the day of renewal). That covers most big ticket items. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Many thanks 360, Dr Rob & RRSTDV8. That's good advice. I love the TDV8 as I think its just the best engine RR have used. You have backed me up for getting another warranty and enjoying the old girl for several more years. I only do 15,000 miles a year so really and honestly miles aren't a great problem. I took my 07 plate to 130k miles with no real problems. Thanks again Thumbs Up

Thanks RRSTDV8. My 07 TDV8 did 130k miles with not a lot wrong....alternator being the only big one so couldn't complain. What major items have you had to deal with, and at what sort of mileage?

A number of those items were caused by poor dealer servicing quality. Some were just typical wear and tear. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Our TDV8 is on 143k miles and has needed......

4 new suspension height sensors
Both upper control arms
1 new A/C condenser

(plus consumables - oil, brake pads/discs etc etc..)

RRSTDV8 - yours has one hell of a list! Surprised

I was offered a 230k tdv8 last week. I'm tempted to buy it as an offroader Laughing
