Ok I hear you BUT what did I lose - with all this depreciating asset talk as I still got my £20k back Very Happy

In fact I gained as I channelled the cash in to my other car that has appreciated.

I'm doing the same with my Velar (V-Pace as you lovingly call it LOL) it's a new car and I will sell it when the new MY18 RRS is out and hopefully come out unscathed in terms of depreciation so a bigger deposit makes more sense (for me) on that one too.

If anything I can see the facelift RRS making residuals stronger. Look at the silly price of a new Velar (which is just a glorified F-Pace in a frock), and they are going to have to increase the RRS price so it's a) distanced away from the Velar, and b) to keep the premium model in-between the Velar and FFRR.

I still look at my GFV as an indicator of where prices are going. In Sep 2019 when my car hits 4yrs old it is going to be worth £45k. That's what Land Rover have stated, and if it drops badly I simply hand it back, which they cannot afford to do. Just think how many RRS's will get handed back without penalty if they do suddenly drop!

As said, I still think a bottom of the price band MY16 AB is your best bet. This for example: http://www.usedvehicles.landrover.co.uk/details/2757340

Unless PCP figures have been dramatically adjusted then at £58k this taken on a 2.5yr PCP will mean you are financing £15k over the term, with minimal deposit that works out at c£650pcm if you get a good finance rate.

Your post inspired me to enquire on a AB RRS. I was going to wait for the effect of the Velar and new RRS, but thought if I could get one for £650/month then I'd be mad not to.

Anyway, saw one at Lookers for £55.5k and asked about PCP. With just a £1k deposit, as I don't want to tie too much into a PCP, just seems wrong. Came back at £960pm payment, as the GFV was only £26,157. Now, this was on a 4 year plan, but I don't see how I can get one for £650/month. What am I doing wrong, do I need a shorter term? Higher deposit?

RallyXS - I've just checked that car and it's a HSE Dynamic, not an AB. LR have listed it wrong on their website.

HSE's have a much lower RRP, hence the really low GFV you've been quoted.

Try again with a 16 plate ABD at max £61k or 65 plate at Max £58k. Also shorten the term to 3 years, GFV will be higher on 3yrs rather than 4, so a lower monthly.

Also you'll be quoted a high APR on used, make sure you ask for the lowest APR, they can do circa 6% if pushed, not the 11% house rate they normally quote. SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles.

I know they come as standard now. It's one of the things I looked at when ordering. In all honesty I found it strange it's not standard across the board. But I guess LR are making a killing painting these SVR Carbon Edition in Estoril Blue MY 21.5

Here's a quick example using bank PCP. 2016 AB, low milage. (Ignore the colour, this is just to give a yardstick to work from on car cost etc)

http://www.usedvehicles.landrover.co.uk/search#/details/2762505

So say you get £1k off the screen price and you put £2k down as a deposit, it comes back as £708pcm over 3 years. The bank PCP deals are always lower on GFV, so a GFV through the dealer will be £2-3k more. Each £1k in/out is worth c£30 off/on the cost per month. So say you get the dealer to match the APR, with the slightly higher GFV they give your payment will be closer to £650 a month...

It's exactly what I did with mine. I got the dealer to match Lloyds PCP APR, but with the Land Rover finances higher GFV it also meant it was also cheaper per month.
