It would be useful if you fill in your profile so we know the engine type. (Although I'm guessing 2.7 diesel?) 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I agree with Mr K - check your consumer rights. The latest law is more favourable to the buyer and the seller has one chance to fix it and then if not resolved you can reject the vehicle and get your money returned. Citizens Advice are always helpful as are Trading Standards. Let the seller know that you are aware of his obligations and intend to go legal if necessary.

However - the HDC fault may very well just be a low state of charge in the battery. A very common problem and the cure is to charge overnight with a proper modern smart charger like a CTEK.

The random vibration at 70mph could be a binding brake - probably at the rear (caliper or internal handbrake shoes) or you'd feel it through the steering - another commonly reported problem. Next time it happens stop and feel the wheels - one may be much warmer than the other indicating the faulty side.

The engine light and loss of boost sounds like a sticking turbo actuator rod linkage and frequently that can be fixed by giving it a good soaking with lubricant and working back and forth with a bit of stiff wire. Any good specialist should be familiar with this.

Oil leaks need the attention of a good garage that take the time to investigate properly and fix. I particularly don't like the sound of leaking turbo oil lines as that could spell disaster in the form of a seized turbo swiftly followed by destroyed engine. A good flow of oil around the turbo is absolutely vitally important.

Good luck - I hope you get some satisfaction. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Could loss of power not also be a perished / split turbo hose? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Heeeyyy.. So a little update,

After being at the garage waiting for a couple of weeks for the ramp to be free, I have had a new turbo fitted... touch wood all seems fine and its making good power and hitting about 30odd mpg. yay

next thing is that I had the the air con regassed about a month ago and it was working really well but now its not even cold at all, could this do with the body being removed for the turbo change? or should i expect something a little more serious. Question Question

Sounds like someone forgot to recharge the aircon after they put the body back on. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

What is a "comfort indicator"? I've owned 3 RRS's since they were launched and don't recall ever seeing one on any of them..... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Oh, now I understand, RRS has done that since about 2006 IIRC, only gives 3 flashes of the indicator though. On RRS you just have to tap the indicator stalk to trigger it rather than pushing up or down its full travel, just move it a small amount. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
