3 weeks with Land Rover and no parts??

Hi chaps. I've been away for a few years after selling my RRS to get on to the property ladder. Now the house renovations are finished I bought a 2014 RRS autobiography.

I picked the car up on April 1st and I've felt like a fool ever since.

I've already had the following issues with the car:

* stop/start not working at all
* Touch screen painfully slow to respond
* Navigation crashing and rebooting every 5-10 mins or so
* L/H steering wheel buttons stop working
* Performance Restricted message on display and going into limp mode

Apparently all the touch screen and nav issues have been resolved. The performance restricted message was caused by a faulty DPF pressure sensor.

This would usually be a quick fix, however Land Rover don't appear to have any in stock and they don't know how long it will be until they get new parts.

So far my car has been with them for 3 weeks with no estimated fix time. Am I the only one that finds this absurd? Especially with a car that is still in production.

The car has been with Land Rover for almost half the time I've owned it. I'm considering just rejecting the car if it's not fixed by next week. I really don't know what else to do and I'm tired of driving a discovery sport courtesy car when I'm paying for a high spec RRS! Big Cry Want to do a DIY job on your car? Stop / Start not working could be that the dedicated battery needs to be replaced/ fully charging
Touch screen - it is slow if you are used to a BMW or Audi system......... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Have you tried sourcing the sensor yourself? Might be worth a try if not.

I'm of the opinion that LR dealers blame parts supply as a way of putting such jobs on the back burner. This frees up their "technicians" to do the easy money servicing jobs.

I had a two+ week delay for a thermostat housing once. Kept saying they were waiting for it to be inspected by LR's warranty people. Then they were waiting for their senior technician to have a look at it because it was so complicated, then some other excuse. Picked it up Christmas Eve and was met with many embarrassed looks when I questioned the delays. Similar stories at another LR dealer for other work.

Servicing is big profit, easy money for the dealer so why do the slow, low profit stuff if you don't have to? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Welcome back Kav; your previous contributions to the DIY sections were and still are much appreciated.
Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with JLR franchises they are indeed truly full of a load of old pony. I agree with RRSTDV8 - maybe try giving Dan at Duckworths a call. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Similar stories and the reporters ordered parts via a different dealer tans had it within 1-2 days. Order yourself then walk in with it and watch them squirm

Thanks for your responses chaps.

Paddi, I'm glad the technical posts were helpful to you, I will look to update them when I get a chance.

With regards to the parts - I've tried calling a number of different dealerships but they all say the same thing. Parts are on back order with no delivery date. Sounds like there are issues with the suppliers. I also tried getting the parts from my local car parts specialist but they couldn't source one either.

Going to call JLR customer services tomorrow to escalate the issue. Want to do a DIY job on your car? Check out the definitive 'how to' thread in the technical section Thumbs Up

they should be raising a critical parts request that way they'll source parts from the factory line and not parts warehouse stock, it may help speed the process up Sophie Alltoft

Thank you for your response. I believe it was raised as a VOR critical but there was an issue getting hold of the 2014 part number. I would have thought a later part number would be fine as the car is still in production. I know the evoques had issues with a bad batch of 2014 DPF sensors.

As it happens I just had a call from the service centre and they have advised that the part will be delivered on Tuesday. đŸ˜€ Want to do a DIY job on your car? Check out the definitive 'how to' thread in the technical section Thumbs Up

My wife has a 2016 honda civic, Nine month old and has done 11,000 miles, it went in for a rattle from the top end, and hasn't been seen since. That was 7 weeks ago, Honda have no idea on when they will get the parts needed, as they are concentrating on the newly launched 2017 mode.
I will say this again, the car is 9th month old. 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

Picked the car up today. Seems to be running ok and the sat nav isn't crapping out anymore.

The stop/start still doesn't work but that would be too easy wouldn't it? Mad Want to do a DIY job on your car? Check out the definitive 'how to' thread in the technical section Thumbs Up

You might have a flat or low stop/start battery so the system won't work until it is back up to full charge. I had "Battery low , start engine immediately" on the info screen when I started up after 4 months of no use and it was the stop/start battery that had discharged not the main battery. One 16 mile run later and the Stop/Start cut in as normal. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks Tim. Supposedly they charged it when my car first went in and it worked ok....then it was sat for a month and it discharged itself without use.

Sounds like a duff battery to me. Had a 30 mile drive home and still nothing. Either battery is fubar or it's not charging Mad Want to do a DIY job on your car? Check out the definitive 'how to' thread in the technical section Thumbs Up

My stop/start has stopped working & it keeps coming up on the dash ( low battery start vehicle) even after a 2 hour run on Sunday it still didn't work so my battery could be goosed,,I'll get them to check it when it goes in for service a week on sat as the car is still under warranty.
