Splatters of Black grease on tunnel under car help

Hi all. I've just done a oil and filter change on my 2007 tdv8 and whilst it was up in the air I noticed black grease on the tunnel under the car where the prop shaft bolts to the gear box. There is also black grease coming out of the prop housing and you can move the prop shaft in and out but not side to side. Any help would be greatdful

Looks like the seal has given up and let the grease out. It will eventually fail as the joint is no longer lubricated, but you should be fine for 3 or 4 months if you need to scratch some money together before replacing the prop.

Can the seal not be replaced or is it a case of a new or reconditioned prop??

Theres not really any servicable parts on them. The carrier bearing bush will no doubt benefit from being replaced too. They aren't that expensive or difficult to change (the full prop I mean, not the carrier bearing haha) Thumbs Up
