Question about jacking up car

Hey guys,

is there any way I can set up the suspension so that the air bags are locked in access mode while lifting the vehicle. The issue I'm having is that when I go to jack up the car, the air bags relax and the suspension extends fully forcing my jack to lift the car higher. If-not I'll get a jack with a greater extension but I was just wondering. the manual says to make sure the car is in off road height but still, that's a lot for the jack to lift just to get the tire off the ground.

To answer your question - no the suspension cannot be locked.

Try this - raise the car to offroad height - put the jack under the jack point so the jack takes the weight - then lower the suspension to onroad height - the sensors will detect the jack and raise the car to extended offroad height. Then use the procedure in the handbook to raise the suspension to super extended. Then the amount the jack has to lift the car to lift the wheel is not much at all.

As suggested the jack under the suspension arms works well but is dangerous because the of the shape of the arms and the shape of most of the tops of most jacks - I have had my car fall off the jack.

The safest is under the chassis but can be a pain as you have found out.

I read it as the jack did not have much travel ?

Rather than it was too much effort to jack it up

with any modern LR:

1. get rid of the scissor jack
2. buy a 2t or 3t bottle jack
3. get a nice, solid block of wood to act as a base
4. jack under the suspension arm

Update:

I simply jacked up the car at the OEM mounting point enough to get the jackstand under it and then jacked up the control arm enough to get the tire off the ground. Worked like a charm and super safe. Sadly though, my left rear caliper is seized beyond repair. It overheated so no real chance of salvage. Big Cry
