I had a tracker cat5 plus on my old c-class which was fantastic. Being able to login and see the car in realtime was great but you had to carry a fob with you every time you drive the car, this was a pain in the but obviously made it harder to steal.

Mine had a tracker fitted by the LR dealership when I bought it nearly 6 years ago. Got a life time service for it so it's been a case of "fit and forget". I know it works because I got a call from the tracker company when my RRS was flat bedded with blown turbos. The tracker is "Trafficmaster Trackstar".

Oh yes, according to many, the RRS isn't a real Land Rover anyway... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I'm aware that some tracker alarms have remote shutoff so if someone steals it when the vehicle comes to a stop at lights etc the engine can be shut off. Might be worth looking at. |

Thanks Gerd1986, there is so much out there and its a total nightmare so a full research will be needed. Also dont want loads and loads of wiring looms and cables cut and chopped into if i can help it, as i dont want further problems down the line. 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

I've just ordered the Rewire 104 Pro tracker and hope to fit it at the weekend.

Well Buckster, ordered the tracker on Amazon and arrived the next day fully charged and with Lyca sim card installed. I had to walk around with it outside for 5 minutes after turning it on to find a satellite but after that, hard wired it into the car (took about 10 mins) and bob's your uncle. In the box, it comes with cigarette lighter charger, mains charger, hard wire kit and fuel pump cut off relay as well as "external" GSM and GPRS aerials. (External doesn't mean you need to fit it on the outside of the car, they are just separate aerials that attach to the tracker with about 3m of cable to get a better signal, which I did use. So far I am really pleased with this. the software (cloud based website) is brilliant and has so many features and options and now I get a text to my phone when the car moves, I can see with pinpoint accuracy where it's been, where it stopped, even showing street addresses. You can add additional features like MPG, cost, driver names, service reminders and the list goes on and on! I also downloaded the app which sends me notifications too (including movement, low battery if not hard wired) and another app where I can send commands to the tracker (like status, location, sleep, fuel cut off, fuel on etc) I've had a couple of questions which I emailed to ReWire support and they answered both in less than 24 hours with the answers I needed. One of the questions was about cost and here is their answer; "IF you are using live tracking, the tracker won't use much credit. Topping up with 5 every 90 days will be sufficient. As a matter of fact the device will only use 2-3 in three months but because it's a pay as you go sim card, Lyca expects you to top-up every 90 days." Overall I am delighted with this, although made in China it is designed in the UK and for the cost it seems REALLY well made and reliable. Thinking of getting another one to fit to the Mrs!!!!! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue 2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time? |
