United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Wheel Arch Protectors

I seem to recall reading on here that the Freelander 2 Wheel Arch Protectors offer a cheaper way to replace the RRS 1 items? Also that the Freelander 2 kit provided enough items to do two RRS replacements.

I note that the Freelander 2 Kit comprises 3 part numbers -
LR001623 Front Wheel Arch
LR001624 Rear Wheel arch Rear Section
LR005165 Rear Wheel Arch Front Section

Can anyone advise whether I would need to order the FULL Freelander Kit (all three items) or can I 'mix and match'?

Thanks in advance.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

Hello Rick
My last rrs i swapped the protectors 3 times at £60 a time, they were all s@t. I am currently looking for a cheap alternative. Realistically these should only be a couple of quid. If sixty you should expect them to last a lot longer.
I think the freelander protectors are a good alternative, but still over priced at 40 pound MY12 RRS HSE
Gone 4.2 supercharged RRS
Gone 90
Gone s2000

Hi Shepp

As you say £60 for a set is ridiculous. The Freelander set is more cost effective but buying the individual Freelander items MAY be an even better alternative IF you don't actually need the full kit.

The Freelander Kit you can buy of eBay for around £45.00 consist of six pieces which is sufficient to do a whole sport at least twice if not three times if cut precisely. You could do your own vehicle and sell the remaining bits on as a vehicle set, for say £20.00 which means it only cost around £25.00 to do the whole of your own car.

Cheers

Hi Col

I've noticed that the 3 individual 'pairs' making up the Freelander kit are available separately on ebay which is potentially cheaper than buying the full kit . If the full kit can potentially do a RRS three times do have you any idea which of the individual items would be necessary to do a RRS once........?

Hi,

Of the top of my head I can't remember which is the part number of the longest F/L one's you would need, I do have some in the garage and will have a look tomorrow as it's 11o'clock at night here I think it maybe the one ending 623. Funnily enough the longest one's are not actually the dearest one's if I remember correctly.

Cheers
Col

Copied from a previous post i made when doing the same thing. I bought the 6 piece kit done mine, and sold 2 sets off.

The 2 shortest LR005165 are 480mm,
The 2 middle LR001624 are 520mm
The 2 longer LR001623 are 760mm.
So in theory 1 long can be cut to do both rears and 1 shortest cut will do both front. I can do that twice, that's left me with 2 520mm lengths. Combined front and rear is 535mm so basically they are short by 15mm! Which is 7mm each end just short, I can live with that.

I may put the slightly shorter ones on first, keep a second set and sell on a set, after all the originals lasted 7 years before they swelled and fell off.
