United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Stornoway Grey
A truly Landrover Affair

I was on a shoot yesterday and it struck me that although there were a few Jap-crap 4wds there, the majority of vehicles run by the beaters, pickers up and guns were from the Landrover stable. As it turned out, the Jap pick up 4wd towing the horse box got stuck and relied on a trusty old 110 to winch him out.

As an example we had the following:

RRS SC (mine of course)
RR L322 Vogue and S models
Discovery Series 1
Discovery Series 2
Series 3 SWB
110
Defender 90
Defender 110
Freelander Series 1 L319 D4 HSE

1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

1982 Series 3 SWB

On Thursday I was greenlaning and we met a load of hunters. There were a few land rovers, a RRS S/C, a FFRR, a P38, and a couple of defenders, as well as other 'upper class' 4x4s- X5, X3, M class etc. They had to put down their champagne to move out of our way Rolling Eyes

Also yesterday coming down a local greenlane that we were using as a short cut (you could do it in any car) we met a smaller hunting party, this time not as posh, about 3 D1s and a defender.

Thanks VA, think it's pretty cool, shame about the logo but I don't think I can get anything that does the same without putting an ad on it for free. 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

Andy I think you will find they are shooters not hunters. I shot and coursed for 5 years in a Fl, it never let me down as long as you make sure not to follow the tracks of others!

I used to offroad my TD4 auto a lot until I started to break it trying to keep up with the big boys! Then I bought the 90 to save it from being totally trashed!! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hunting is with hounds (technically the art of venery)and takes the for of hunting scenthounds (foxhounds, beagles, bassets and harriers) or sighthounds which is coursing (greyhounds, whippets, salukis, deerhounds) shooting is with guns (unless with a rifle for deer when it is stalking!) What you saw in all liklihood was a driven pheasant shoot, which I presume is what RRUK was up to.

Probably not VA, but don't shout it out as I can already hear guns on the hill above my house and it's only 9:30am! Wouldn't want to spoil their day. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Well they might have been out shooting pheasants.................... I've just cooked some of the venison shot in the local forests by my brother-in-law in 2006 for dinner this evening
Cooked for myself by me.................. rolled shoulder, stuffed with Haggis and cooked in it's own juices with juices of forest fruits and a large measure of Drambuie poured over it 10 minutes before serving. Fresh vegs and new potatoes (imported from Spain unfortunately) on the side. With a couple of glasses of Portuguese Ribreiro Tinto vinho to accompany it. Batchelor living at it's best! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
