Hey all. Noticed a few patches of oil on the drive the other day so I got underneath the front of the car.

Found oil pooling around the passenger side suspension arms, and what looked like thick grease along the bottom of a black pipe. I'm not technically minded, so I took some photos below. I think it might be the left hand ARB. We have the active cornering control too. I've thought the nearside front has been sitting low for a bit but couldn't fully decide.

What do you guys think?

I can't see any pictures on the thread, as far as I know the ARB would not affect how the car sits when parked up, in respect of the leak have you checked the reservoir behind drivers headlight to see if fluid has dropped. Nanocom Evo

That's a split CV joint boot not your roll bar..

Ok, is that expensive? Or is it just the rubber boot? Where is all the oil coming from?!

It creaks quite loudly when the body is rocked by the road.

The CV joint is part of the drive shaft (this transfers power to the wheel), the joint is full of a thick grease that's held in by the rubber boot. Because your boot is split and the shaft spins it has thrown grease in a circle round the drive shaft. So while it looks like oil it's not.

The boot itself isn't expensive, it's not a particularly pleasant job to replace them though as the whole thing is caked in grease.
Depending on the age of your vehicle and labour rates at your local garage it may be more worthwhile/cost effective replacing the whole driveshaft. You're looking at around 3 hours labour to remove and replace (this should drop to an hour if you replace the drive shaft rather than the boot).

It's good practice to have the tracking done after this type of work has been done.

THanks very much for this. I was thinking I'd got a horrendous bill coming up with the MOT Being on 6th May! May keep the car now instead of quickly disposing of it.
