But that, too, will have AdBlue now. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

To me this is a pretty serious situation.

It clearly states in the brochure, the SDV6 has 86 usable litres. I considered this carefully when deciding on purchasing my RRS. My last land cruiser had 138l and the Touareg had 100l, so I think even 86 is lacking (in fact it is sedan fuel tank size territory).

If what you guys are saying is true, and it is more like 76, I will be very disappointed. I take delivery of mine (at last) at the end of this week, so I look forward to testing this capacity out and I will be taking it up with LR if it is not as per their literature.

Unfortunately you are going to be disappointed then as 100% it's not 86 litres. You'll get a max on 450 miles a tank in reality.

I had exactly the same thoughts as you

That ship has sailed Bails... I pick up the RR this Friday, so looks like I'm stuck with a 76l tank... Seriously, that is pathetic. Years ago, Toyota had advertised a capacity or feature in the Landcruiser brochure and they sent out $1000.00 to every owner with a sorry and a "lets not take this any further" letter.

It's a serious breach to misrepresent a product. 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

I got the chance to run it down to 50km remaining, at the current consumption of 7.5 l/100 equates to around 4l left in the tank presumably. I filled it up and fitted 74.5l, to the brim. So, it either has 78.5 l tank or has around 7.5 l in "reserve". I don't have the guts to run past 0 km remaining to find out....

Volkswagens don't sugar coat the miles left, if it says "0" km, you tend to stop... Very Happy 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

That was 900km from 74.5l, mostly highway. I think the computer was saying around 7.4l/100, so as others have said it reads optimistic. 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

Bails, what is the most you've put in your 100l tank and how many km's did it say you had left when you did? 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

About 95 litres and I think I had 10 left. Not real sure but did check when this was debated some time ago. I have had 1100 k's range with fuel still in. Readout which is optimistic says around 9.5 / 100 with my normal around town driving , I seem to get around 800 to 900 k's when city driving before I refuel. As I don't pay for my gas it isn't a big issue except I hate the refuel process, it takes time. I know the economy is much better than my R50 which had a 100 litre tank. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

That ruins my theory then, I was thinking landrover might have a 10l reserve. We know how bad running out of fuel is for diesel engines. 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

It may not. I remember having a diesel as a courtesy car once and ran it to (near) zero. It then went into a 'limp' mode until I filled it up some miles later. I suspect it would have stopped completely before running dry.

From looking at Autotrader, a 2015 '15 plate 3.0 SDV6 (306bhp) has a 80 litre fuel tank, whilst the same engine in a 2015 '65 has a 89 litre fuel tank! Not sure which is correct.

2015 saw two MY changes, but only one engine change....

March 2015 (15 plate) MY15.5 - which gave the new 306hp engine
Sep 2015 (65 plate) MY16 - which on top of the new 306hp engine also made standard the All Terrain Progression Control, Auto Access Height, Hands Free gesture tailgate and Wifi. Plus the Software Interface update for the ICE system.

AFAIK Ad-blue was added with the introduction of the 306hp engine in MY15.5, so it can't be that. SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles.

Just got back from a trip to Melbourne. Fuel readout was 8.4/100 which was optimistic. Cruised at 120 kph real, 125 on the clock , and managed a real 9.1/100 with 250 k's of city type driving and the rest freeway. Range for my car to empty would be around 1150 k's but I am not game to run completely down. When I refueled at 1000 k's I squeezed 95 litres in. I am well pleased with the economy and performance. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Did the refuel light illuminate at that stage and how many km's did it show in the distance to empty? 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I've never tried this but when the tank gets below a preset level the satnav is supposed to change screens (if using routing) to show the nearest filling station and it will route you there. I have only ever seen it work once in 2006 when travelling in company with a member here who had a 4.2S/C who managed to empty his fuel tank between Bournemouth and Fleet services on the M3....... when asked how he managed that as the car should have better range than they the answer was............ "I only ever drive in S" - he was unaware that doing that locked out 6th gear. IIRC he was getting around 9mpg up to then..... but had fantastic acceleration on tap! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
