Sticking Actuator TDV8

Hi,

I have had a fault code come back from local indie that my right (drivers side) turbo actuator is sticking, he didn't provide the actual code but said this was the error.

I have read numerous times on here that they can sometimes be freed with a coat hanger and lots of WD40.

Are there any photos / videos of the procedure to access this rod? I understand i have to take the heat shields from under the wheel but not sure where to go from there.

I will be doing this with a mechanic friend who knows more than me, but would like to attempt this with a bit more info if possible.

Thanks! 57 Reg TDV8 - Java Black - Privacy Glass - Side Steps Smile

Actually one of those really easy and quick no cost jobs - for once!

From the underside look up and you will see a small (few inches square) plastic inspection panel held in with clips. (4 from memory) Pull them out and drop the panel. Look up with a torch and you will see the actuator above you - if you cycle the ignition and all Is well the actuator will go through a movement check. If sticking you will see clearly there isn't any movement.

Give the joints a good clean with WD40 and excercise with a straightened out coat hanger - worth making the end into a reverse hook so you can push up and away from you.

Bring the actuator back to the position it was to start with

Check the movement if free and working under power and then replace the panel.

Mine did it after a two week parked up while I was on holiday, been fine ever since. TDV8 Java Black, Overfinch 22s
