SAT NAV Display backlight

My SAT NAV display has gone very dim whether the external lights are on or off.

It did flicker a bit before it dimmed Crying or Very sad

Can I replace just the backlight somehow?

Thank you

It could be just dry joints if intermittent, but a real sod to get out and check/repair and costs a lot if you pay. May need a new light source LED if edge lit or LCD or plain old tube backlight all depending on model Year fitted. John

Is it that the perspex in front of the ambient light sensor dirty ?

Try shining a torch on it to see if it's working.

Cool didn't know it was there.

Yes the ALS is functioning ATM, and the display is at the correct brightness.

Will check the sensor next time I have a dim display.

you normally get a dim display when its cold and the battery power is prioritised by other ecus..if you stop and restart the display should go back to normal brightness....
