Front number plate mount

Hi all,

I was hoping the brains trust could help me with an answer to a question.

My RRsport is being built the first week of February and my dealer has been providing me with the build sheet every month or so for me to check my last minute changes to the build. It consists of around 5 pages of lists of codes and descriptions the factory use for the build configuration. I'm a little pedantic, putting it nicely, so I do check items off. Customer from hell....lol

Now, I have noticed a change to one of the items;

It used to read - 056AH LESS Front Number Plate Plinth

This months print out, that item changed to - 056BB Front Number Plate Plinth ROW

Normally, who would care right? But I wanted a clean look at the front and wanted to mount my number plate lower on the black plastic between the painted bumper and the lower plastic skid plate.

See an example photo :

Does anyone know what the number plate plinth is or why it has changed on my build sheet?

Thanks in advance...

ROW is "rest of the world" so you won't have a UK/ European front bumper. Might be worth asking one of your fellow Australian members what their front number plate mount is like. We have to have a flat mount for ANPR systems as they don't like to look at curvy and non reflective licence plates. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Thanks Tim,

Currently Australian RRsports are delivered without a number plate "plinth". I think it is a new thing on this year's model Crying or Very sad .

Might be some Australian law requirement (flat mounting) that is being enforced now that toll roads / speed cameras are doing more number plate recognition here. I was just hoping it wasn't some oversized piece of plastic to suit all ROW (Rest Of World) plate sizes.

That would be real a shame.. ( I know, such a 1st world problem Thumbs Up ) 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

Doesn't it block the front camera and active cruise radar head when it is lower? MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

Can't get to the front of mine as in the garage but am sure the head is a flat plate in the lower grill. The camera is in the middle of the lower black grill. MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

Has anyone any pics of their front plinth removed..
I'm about to fit a private plate and considering taking the plinth off and sticking direct to the bumper for a cleaner look.

For my SVR the plinth was a dealer fit item during the PDI. They asked and we didn’t so my plate is directly on the bumper. Looks much better IMHO, except the plate itself started to delaminate at the top and discolour!

Yes perfect looks good thanks.
I had the plates made up today and had Carbon effect letters. Not sure I like them, was going to go for standard but my 5 year old insisted on the carbon ones.
Might get them on with plinth removed and try them for a bit to see if they grow on me.
