Flat battery

I've had my RRS for approx 11 months and it was purchased with a new battery. It has started first time every time I use it. Having done a 180 mile trip after Christmas the car has been in the garage for two weeks and again it started first time. Having travelled to Wales my wife encountered a flat battery in the morning. A jump start got the car going and she returned home to London in the night time without a problem. I've just gone to the car and the battery is flat again.

Does the radio left on with no keys in the ignition drain the battery ?

Any thought please

If you are going to leave a RRS in the garage for 2 weeks, you really need a CTEK charger to keep the battery topped up and look after the battery.

They start at about £60 ish for a 5Amp

If your car was purchased with a new battery 11 months ago, then that battery will still be in guarantee. It's worth getting it checked out to see if it's internally breaking down/faulty and if so you should be able to claim for a new one, unless the battery checks out ok then there could be a problem with the charging system on your car or there is an electrical drain dragging the battery down.

And yes, probably leaving the radio on would drain the battery..... I downloaded some CD's onto my car's hard drive and this took some time and a warning came up to say the battery was getting low.

Hope this helps Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

You've either got a big parasitic drain when it's parked up or the battery is knackered. It could be indicative of an alternator on the way out too, sadly.

No point putting another new battery in (under warranty or not) if the alternator is dying. It'll just kill the new battery too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Also if you are leaving the car parked up for more than a few hours it is always best to lower it to access height, when you lock up the car's systems are programmed to go into "sleep" mode which can help reduce battery drain. You will never notice if it has gone to sleep and even when you coming back to it it will automatically wake up, ready to go (unless you have a flat battery!!). I used to leave my 2.7TDv6 and my TDv8 for up to 5 months with them only being driven for a 50 mile round trip every 6 weeks or so and never experienced a flat battery, although I did use a Maplin £10 solar powered trickle charger to condition the battery. It was only when I moved to post 2010MY cars that I ever started to have battery problems - to the extent that my first Evoque would die after only 10 days with a flat battery. Changes of battery to an AGM one and constant upgrading of battery management systems by LR seems to have got around most of the battery flattening problems on the newer cars but it is at the expense of having an audio system that now only runs for 10minutes before shutting down and loosing the ability to plug a trickle charger into the cigarette lighter/ power socket. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Do you mean that you changed yours to an AGM battrry, or that all RRS batteries are AGM now? The reason I ask is that it's a different setting on the battery charger (or will be when I get the car, that is!).
