First RRS ordered

First post and have put in an order. Pretty basic spec, but only having had a freelander before it feels a bit special....

MY17 HSE TD6
Meridian 825
Drive Pack
Fixed pano
Privacy glass
Electronic deployed towbar
Corris grey

Hoping to have it before the price hikes in VED, loved the test drive and for once we'll have loads of room in the family car. Even the dog liked it. Very Happy

Can you get a TD6, or is this an SDV6?

Hmmmm.... not quite what we ordered, turns out the wrong trim was put on the factory order. Time to ponder rejecting vs accepting. Replacement would arrive May so fall inside new VED regime. Damn.

Rejecting it, which your entitled to do, would cost them money as they'd have to discount it to sell it, so try bargaining for a BIG discount (if you're prepared to put up with the wrong trim). Alternatively, re-order and demand they increase your discount to cover your extra VED costs. What was the mistake, by the way?

We ordered all black interior, with black headlining. It's arrived with black seats and dash top, but with ivory door, cubby lid and centre dash trim. Not the worst, does lighten the interior. The worst part is the cubby lid, but there's more of a sense of disappointment compared to what we were expecting. True first world problem though! Will sleep on it. I actually initially wanted the ebony/ivory combo but it's my good lady's car and she preferred all black.

The rest of the car is outstanding.

Doesn't sound too bad, but make them compensate you in some way if you keep it. The dealer missed something off my order (it was on my paperwork but they missed it off when they did the factory order), but I kept the car and accepted an extra 1,500 discount (plus saving 500 on the option I didn't get). Yours is probably a worse case because the option I didn't get was at least invisible.

I never broached the topic of them standing me the VED difference, as a replacement would have been available before 1 April, but they did offer me a loan car to save me re-taxing/ insuring my trade in. Have you worked out the extra cost of the new VED, by the way, it's a huge difference.

Years 2 to 6 costs an extra 220 and years 7 onwards costs 90 less, so 1000 discount for VED change if you decided to wait plus whatever for inconvenience would be reasonable.

If you decide to keep, ask for evidence of what dealer requested. Was it Taggarts, Maryhill Road? Only reason I ask is that I was in at around the date you ordered and they had two 'spec amendable' RRS available. I'd guess it's easier to make a mistake when amending a spec than when starting from scratch. Might get you a few more pounds when negotiating.

We knew it was an amended slot when we ordered, and carefully checked the paperwork after we got home. Our deposit confirmation clearly states ebony, the factory order has ebony/ivory for trim.

Yes, Taggarts maryhill - so far they have been pretty good. On a positive note the rest of the car really is fabulous Smile

Mind you, when I was in they had a Carpathian Grey one with your interior and I thought it looked stunning. Could be a win-win.
