Any hints and tips for a new owner - 2005 RRS HSE

HI
i have purchased a 2005 2.7tdv6. A fantastic upgrade from my previous Freelander 2.
I have just found out about the 3rd button programming. I was shocked that there was no boot release button on the fob or in the car.
What else am i missing? There's things that i don't have that i had with my freelander and am a little surprised about it
My windows dont open with my fob.
Mirrors dont fold
I cant stream music to my radio - so do i have to buy a whole new system???? ( i use android phone)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Great forum BTW

Welcome.

To play music through the factory fit audio you could just use a 3.5mm jack to jack lead plugged into the headphone socket on the phone and the aux socket at the rear of the centre console; but the quality won't be great and not full volume. A better solution is to use one of these:

You'll need a USB adapter for the cigar lighter to charge it. Also adds Bluetooth phone connectivity if your car doesn't already have it.

A neater but more expensive bluetooth streaming solution is to use the unit from 'African Outdoor' in South Africa that is installed into the back of the audio unit behind the dash. There's a thread on the Disco 3 site about it.

If you have folding mirrors they are folded by pushing the control stalk vertically down but I'm not sure the 2005 model had this option.

Enjoy your new toy. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

When I got my RRS the third button on the fob was programmed to open the tailgate. I've now changed it to enable my remote fbh but presumably, even though I haven't seen it anywhere in the hand book, it is possible to have the 3rd button programmed to open the tailgate. Or is that what you have done? If so ignore me! If not I gues you'd follow the same programming procedure as for those things that are covered inn the handbook.

I agree I was surprised I could not control my windows from the fob. On my Jag - same group and older model - I could! Robin

Hi,
the 3rd button can be programmed to open the boot. Someone more in the know can advise how. or search.
For streaming music i bought one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PARROT-ASTEROID-...xymspSFeKh
works like a charm.
Folding mirrors comes on later models. 2019 RRS P400e Autobiography

To program the 3rd button, you bascially hold the button down and then press the button of what you want the 3rd button to do. (i.e the boot button or rear glass) main beam flash, suspension height button.

The 2005 do have folding mirrors.
Rotate the knob to the center position and push down.

Sorry to jump in but I like the look of this. Does it work with the standard RRS head unit (mine is also 2005)?
