Random battery light

Hi all, my battery light has started to come on and go off randomly, had brand new battery approx 3 months ago, checked battery and alternator with volt meter & both SEEM to be ok, battery holds charge when car off and alternator puts out good input when running even with every electric on. I presume it's loose connections, battery or alternator, just asking in case there could be another cause I could/should check as well knowing the sport is very strange sometimes. Ha.

Remove the charging circuit fuse and check it, check the alternator connector.
What actual voltage are you getting? Engine off and then when engine running. Rather than just good. Thumbs Up
What voltage are you getting when the battery light comes on?

I'd say that it's the beginning of your alternator giving up, but could also be an Earth issue perhaps. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi bodsy 👍 Is the charging fuse the one on positive battery lead by connector, if I remember correct it was 12.3v after leaving over night and checking in morning, and 14.3v min and 14.7v max when running and playing with heater/lights/etc, didn't actually think of checking when light was on, good idea Idea makes sense now you said it, ha, Embarassed will check later, knowing the sport it won't come on now I want it too. Gilly,

I just had LRA out to my L494 with a charging system fault.

Turned out to be a loose battery earth lead ( at the body end).

Might be worth a check.

Took the sport for a drive today and airbag light came on as well as battery light, then window washers stopped working all other wiper functions worked ok ( auto on, manual speeds all ok,) then all suspension sensor indicators on 4x4 screen went red, they cleared after switched off then on again. So got home and checked volts with meter and battery was 12.3v with engine off and 12.5v with engine on went up to 13v when revved, so think it's new alternator time and fingers crossed it will clear the other faults.

doubt you have ACE.

You will have a bottle with yellow cap by the airbox, at the front, on the drivers side if you do
