MY17 RRS Scotia Grey Stealth Pack has arrived

BUT....

I'm being told by the dealer that the deployable side step electric motors haven't been approved and therefore cant be fitted. As the electrics are new for the MY17 model the motors need to be approved before they can be fitted.

Now LR Customer Services have said they are not aware of this but my dealer suggests Customer Services wouldn't know.
Anyone got a MY17 with the steps fitted, or indeed on order?

I've got one on order with deployable side steps, and no-one has said anything about a problem. They are routinely fitted to pre-MY 2017 cars, so why would the new model be different?

Apparently as the MY17 has completely new electrics for the Sat NAV, dashboard, etc, the motors for the steps have not been approved. I was only informed the same day my dealer excitedly emailed me to say the car had arrived and could be collected within 48 hours.

Sounds a bit bureaucratic, but thanks for clarifying the position. It seems odd that they wouldn't have addressed this before launching the model and/or putting the steps on sale, though.

Hopefully it will be sorted for you soon, and also before mine is delivered. It

We went to a D5 preview last weekend.

I asked about deployable side steps for SWMBO's new D5 HSE (like I have on my AB) and the sales managers comment was.

"Give LandRover chance to sort out 17MY FFRR and RRS deployables first - they may then become available for D5." Shocked

Oh dear! Sounds like a bit of a c*ck up. Still, I suppose, given that it's a dealer fit option, we can always have it done later.

What did you think of the D5, by the way? I like the look of it from the photos.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Sounds about right for LR - sales not knowing what engineering are up to. Had the same when I ordered a 2014MY Evoque in 2013, I ordered it with the then new option of In Control Secure and In Control Remote............... order was confirmed by LR and accepted in the Vista system and then the Dealer contacted me just before it was to go into build saying neither In Control system was yet approved by the engineers to fit to the car so I could take the car without them or wait....... I asked how long was the wait "Don't Know, LR won't tell us" so I decided to wait - originally the car was to be delivered in the October of 2013 and I finally took delivery on 28th March 2014. Neither InControl system worked when the car was delivered to the dealership, who couldn't sort it out because it was a Friday and the boffins had gone home, I was to take delivery on the Saturday........
In the end I drove the car home to Scotland from London with no In Control at all. After a fuss with LRCS and a very angry post on the forum LR agreed to fly the head man for Incontrol to Scotland to sort it out - to took him all of 10 minutes. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You didn't seem very thrilled! As an owner of both RRS and D4, how does it compare? Is it just a Discovery Sport big brother, or is there more to it?

I briefly considered ordering one for March delivery when I saw the photos, but I'm glad I didn't given the predicted delivery delays.(I've now ordered an RRS SDV8).

**Update**
Went to collect my new car on Wednesday and was informed "Good news, and some really bad".....

"The deployable side steps were approved late yesterday so we've had some couriered in overnight and fitted to your car. Bad news is you can either have the engine working and not the steps, or the steps working and not the engine. We've got a new ECU to fit but you're car wont be ready today."

I've been given an Autobiography 2017 version which I must say is nice to be driving around in but still no sign of my car. Yesterday's update was they were having some LR HQ technicians come to see the car, apparently mine is the first 2017 car to have them fitted, or not as the case currently is.

Immediate differences (to 2016), SatNav is a huge improvement BUT whole system seems very slow to boot up. Start the car up, select reverse and you could have reversed for a mile before the rear view camera actually kicks in.

There is def something wrong with it as on my 2015MY HSE the reverse cam comes on relatively quickly after start up and engaging reverse first thing in the morning. When the engine is already running it comes on as soon as reverse is selected. The delay used to be a huge problem in the passed and was a big problem with Evoques up to 2015MY when there was a software change to make the reverse cam come on sooner after a start up. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
