2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Handbrake stuck on and red flashing warning light

Hi all.
After 4 weeks of trouble free ownership and wondering what all the "big bill" warning brigade were all on about I now have my first fault!!

The epb actuator made the horrible screeching noise and failed to disengage on one side. I tried in vain to release it with the emergency pull under the console but as the car was stuck in the garage I had no option but to cut the cable to release the tension.
Im now mobile again but have the red flashing handbrake warning light cosntantly illuminated.
Could this fault be deleted and light stay off as long as I dont pull the switch again?
And how much should I be looking to pay for a new one supplied and fitted?
I could fit it myself but I believe the set up of the system needs a specialist so dont know whether its worth me even getting my hands dirty?

If you aren't too far from Dundee then forum member Disco-Mikey is your man, he currently has an RRS he's breaking so you might get a used EPB release wire from him (or a whole unit) and he can set them up too............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Been quoted £870 supply and fit for actuator and cables plus £212 if it needs rear shoes

It probably doesn't need a new EPB module. The cables (from module to wheel hub) are replaceable individually and the shoes aren't that expensive. It's entirely possible that the fault is a knackered EPB shoe rather than the EPB module itself. I reckon you should be able to get it done for much less than you're being quoted. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Switzerland 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

Had the same couple of weeks ago.

Was unable to release it using the emergency pull cable.

Luckily I had the IIDTool with me, cleared the message once but came back, cleared a second time and the message disappeared and the brake released.

I haven't used it since, covered the lever with duck tape on the lever to avoid pulling it by mistake, waiting for the weather to worm up(long wait) so I can the work on it. '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

Complete and utter mickey take
Is that at a main dealer by any chance??

If not then you need a new indie Smile

Mine failed over the summer at 7 1/2y of age
Indie stripped it down and rebuilt it for a couple of hundred quid
He said he's hardly ever fitted the complete new module and if so hed have charged me less than half of your quote using JLR parts
