ACM Installation

Does anyone have any tips to pass on regarding installing an ACM unit? I managed to get one off Fleabay but don't want to ruin the interior or mess up the electrics as I've only had the car a week and a half !!!

I found a link to remove the glove box but was wondering are the connectors obvious or do you need to go digging?

Loving my TDV8 😎

Audio Connectivity Module.... allows you to connect an iPod directly to the stereo and use the steering wheel controls to access the tracks... somewhat limited functions but certainly better than no iPod at all! 😀

An alternative to the ACM would be one of these (dependant on your setup):

https://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Results.aspx?O=rr%20sport

You will then be able to swap out the fugly headunit with something more aesthetically pleasing and certainly more functional.

It also means that you don't need to pull the interior to bits to hide the new module.

I have yet to find a headunit that would compliment the RRS interior. Regards etc.,

:censored: !

Ok, having struggled removing various trim parts (but not losing trim clips !!) and removed the stereo I now find that the connectors for the stereo side don't fit!

I've spoken to my very friendly local LR parts department and they think this is due to the car, although being an 08 model, wasn't actually registered until March 2011... (not sure how this works but the original reg was SV11 - XXX but it's now back on an 08 plate) so they think it may have had a later model stereo and/or wiring fitted...

So the long and short of this is that if anyone wants this ACM unit then I'll be selling it on... LR part number is LR006792... will be looking for around £100 for it plus RD postage at cost... very hard to get hold of now as LR don't stock them original retail was about £200

Bear in mind that this is for RRS up to 2009 according to when the stereo was updated but I would suggest that if you have anything newer than 2008 you check the chassis number with LR.

Photos of the unit are in my gallery

My March 2015 car is registered to a "57" plate cherished number, as were my previous 2 cars - 2011 and 2014 built cars. The previous owner of yours had it registered to a standard issue plate before putting a cherished number that was an 08 plate, you can make a new car look older but you cannot make an older car look newer when assigning cherished number plates. I would suggest that also it has sat languishing in a storage compound unwanted for those 3 years................. and thus a bit of a bargain to the first keeper. I bought my 57 late RRS TDV8 with a huge discount because it was a 2007MY car bought after the 2008MY had come on sale. The only spec difference was in 2008 the phone cradle and module was deleted and replaced with an electrically adjusted instead of manually adjusted steering column and for 2008 the full on B/T hands free like we have now was fitted - I decided that as the only person driving the car at the time, for the discount offered, I could live without wireless handsfree phone system and an electrically adjusted steering column! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim, could the introduction of B/T explain why the wiring loom is slightly different into the back of the stereo? Bit of a pain as I now have to get the newer part and this is going to cost me a whole lot more 😾

Could be because the B/T needed to have an auto-mute for the audio volume, not sure if that was needed with the old cradle system under the cubby box lid. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
