I can understand why he would feel that way BKHK - I had an uncle piloted craft at the landings - pilots were targeted on the way in to prevent them landing troops and had to go back afterwards to collect bodies off the beach - he turned to alcohol when he returned and died when I was still a boy - He felt the same as your grandfather Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

No argument from me HemoRRS about treatment of ex service personnel - I know a few and have seen their suffering Sad

Hard to believe especially at the moment but the USA are doing loads now for their veterans and put us to shame - I know through a friend someone over there who was called up again due to specialist skills and was wounded. They have brain injuries and need medical care - they now live in a specially built bungalow with pool in a town for veterans with a hospital etc and get round the clock support for them and their family including holidays to Disneyworld etc

It doesn't make up for what they've sacrificed but it beats what we do here

At the end of the day people people should be free to wear a poppy or not and take part or not - that's why our grandads fought after all - to protect our freedom - nobody should disrespect the sacrifice they made though or people who want to show respect for it Bow down

Remembrance day shouldn't be political but it appears to be going that way which also makes me sad Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Wales 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra Black

For me the whole thing has become a Political gathering, without any backing and support for those they are there to celebrate and remember. The way many troops sore inside or homeless on the street, while immigrants arrive and are looked after really infuriates me, we just do not look after the members of our services who many find difficult to settle back into normal life. The mental health problems they suffer from are not treated properly or regognised.
Until the Government start to look after both in service and retired from, they shouldn't even be at the Cenotaph today, it disgusts me.

Remembrance Day should be given back to the people.

Yes I do come from a family where we have lost members and currently have one brother who now suffers daily, not just with his disablement, but with mental health problems brought on by recent conflicts in the last 20+ years of service. Does he receive help? No, we look after him as family as he cannot get a council or otherwise property, or receive the care he should be getting. He is not ALONE. John
