Replacing the HU and entire audio system

Hi,

Will start at project soon replacing the entire audio system in my 2007 RRS with Logic7.

The sound system does not compare to the type of sound I am used to having and after long research decided to rip out the old system and completely install a new one with:

- 10" android headunit
- New sub or subs fitted in the rear, but will build it so that it is integrated and does not take to much of the boot space
- Sound dampen where it is possible
- New speakers
- Rear headrest screens
- Reversing camera
- Actually considering removing the second screen and use the ODB2 for the status uppdates

It will of course take som time but after discussing with several audio companies as well as car audio builders.

Will try to update as often as I can but let me know if you have done it or have any other suggestions.

/Grottan

Iv took quite a few of the standard systems out because as you are quite right they sound absolutely crap, and people think because it says Harmon on the speakers that it must be good, where in reality Harmon group buy up brands and get it all made on the cheap in China.
I always keep the top screen as it displays some useful 4x4 info and system settings. There is loads of space in the side covers of the boot for amps and processing, also the back floor of the boot just pulls up and again more space.
Iv fitted focal utopia 3 way in the front of mine and MB c
2 way in the back all on a genesis 3 series, iv also got a pair of DLS d1000 amps for the bass and iv got a small jl sub box for daily use and a slot ported FI audio 15 which I put in when I'm feeling youthful lol spiteful Range Rover Sport tdv8

Grottan, sounds like an interesting Project Thumbs Up Particularly interested in your 10" android install as this is something I'd like to do but with no real experts over here I'm relying on myself and auto electricians....

Look forward to seeing the progress and especially any custom fascias you have made.

Good Luck Thumbs Up

Sound like a good setup and thanks a lot for the advice. The coming weeks we will be deciding exactly what we will use but will have a lookat the focals for sure.

Is there actually any vital information or settings that cannot be obtained any other way if we switch out the top screen?

Thanks

Grottan, which HU are you thinking of using? I presume something like the Joy(ing) model, or will you be installing a tablet and running this from the amps directly?

Cheers

We are trying it first with a 2 din model as it enables a lot of functions and the install is easier.
