L494 Front grill removal?

Can anyone confirm how to move a front grill from the RRS (L494)? I am trying to replace it with an SVR grill. Instructions are to take out the top screws and just pull outwards but I am pulling for all my life and the thing just won't come out!

Youtube videos of the older model RRS show the same procedure but it seems easy to pull that out compared to the newer car.

Am I doing anything wrong (apart from adding an SVR grill (no badges though!) Laughing )

Are there additional screws or rivets behind the grill that I need to be aware of?

Based on this, just 4 screws and then pulling to front as you have done, could it be that the four clips at the bottom are very tight.

Try to give it a sudden hard tug, and you should find it will come straight out.
Can be tight when new so may have to use a bit of strength to remove. Wink John

Welcome to the forums.....Yes - take the top screws out and then get your fingers in the centre and slightly lift up and PULL AS HARD AS YOU CAN - don't be scared to break it or it wont come out - it wont break it will come out Smile

Thanks will try pulling up slightly next time, it's pretty tough as there's very little space for your fingers whilst holding on via that narrow bottom gap.

Yes I can confirm all of the above I just did the same, and with a good layer of skin of the knuckles and a hard pull it comes off

The SVR grill looks great good luck Smile

I was playing around the other day and tried to remove the grille to adjust the bonnet catch (really needs to slam down to catch on the LHS).
I gave up though, the force required was more than I was willing to exert on a new car. Removal instructions are in the owners manual under cleaning after off road use. Based on this thread, I'll give it another shot but I'll stick some protective tape on the top of the bumper in case it drags over the paint. Wink 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

So I had another go and really pulled as hard as possible even had a neighbour have a go and no dice Sad the only thing I can think of is either I'm holding on the wrong place whilst pulling or this sucker is just jammed on. I might try and put some straps around it and pull else probably and reluctantly going to have to take in to be done. Anyone else got a video of them doing it?

I used a wide angled trim removal tool on one side at the bottom, gave it a good pull then did the other side, saved the skin on my knuckles Very Happy

Success ... finally!! What I ended up doing was using the strap from an old bag and looping around the bottom piece of the grille next to the first clip and was able to pull off easily. Recommend this for anyone having issues trying to get the grille out.

Very Happy glad you managed! The mod is worth the effort as the MY18 will most likely be getting this grill anyway! Mine is now for sale in the for sale section Thumbs Up
