How does the SC cooling pump manage to Suck enough?

Getting the ususl SC issue of 'reduced Engine Performance'. Have had the cooling pump off and found the wiring to be as reported in other posts, WRONG!

My question is, how does this wiring issue NOT effect the beast (MY2005) until it's into it's 11th year on the road?
It appears to be able to suck enough coolant the wrong way to NOT have an issue causing 'reduced Engine Performance'???

Having rewired the pump I'm still getting the issue so will be changing the pump tomorrow when it arrives at the supplier.

Next question is are the 2 TSB's relating to this fault message carried out FOC or will I need to cough up to LR?
Seems my VIN is within the effected range, how the hell have these not been done before?

Looking forward to the collective wisdom and having my confusion cleared up!!!

Thanks

Rob

It's a directional pump, so when it's running in reverse the flow rate is far lower. When the vehicle ages the cooling capacity of the radiators drops due to blocked/damaged fins and also furing of the aluminium means that temps slowly climb.
