RRS MY17 - TFT Virtual Instrument Panel - Is this real - WOW

The MY17 Webpage shows this to be the TFT screen where the speedo is and it looks insane! Anyone know if this is really what will happen to the upgraded screen?

See section under infotainment!? http://www.landrover.co.uk/vehicles/range-...ology.html
Exciting indeed Very Happy

Audi have had this for a couple of years now I think... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yep that's right. Audi have had it for some time.

However, it has been really criticised for its reliability.

Correct - know about Audi having it for some time now but didn't think JLR was up to this kinda tech!

It isn't I don't think.

16MY was meant to be the introduction and it was delayed. The Evoque convertible demos were released with a hard drive playing a 'demo loop' rather than a live system!

Does anyone think that LR can get a system like this to work properly? Look at the sat nav and infotainment systems for the last few years. Laughably slow. As for reliability - HDC and brake bulbs anyone? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Wales 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra Black

From previous and present systems and their crap outside software contractors, I think this is a big bad gamble, without the proper experience at LR this is doomed from the start and a future nightmare. I won't be upgrading to this that's for sure. The latest map updates for 2016 are still using 2014 mapping so way out of date, only extras was some POIs a right rip off. Reported to Trading a Standards as advertised as "latest east 2016 map update" how do they get away with it? Even says maps copyright 2014. Big Cry Whistle John

Our centre instrument panels (On HSE Dynamic and up) already are a LCD screen, all they are doing is reprogramming what is displayed on them.

So far those screens have not been unreliable, or at least no-one has had issues with them on here.

Software though................... MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Dears,
I respectfully disagree. I had my TFT blinking all the time for a couple of years. I spent hundreds of KMs with my cell to be able to record on video the image disappearing. Eventually I managed to convince LR to have the TFT replaced. No problems now.
Cheers

I would recommend people take a look at the FPACE forum (fpaceforum.co.uk)...they are having MASSIVE issues with the InContol Touch Pro....I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, not until it's fixed. JLR seem to be blind to the issues and be rolling it out regardless.

I would suggest that Land Rover concentrate on improving their Quality Control and get the current features on their cars to work correctly before introducing questionable upgrades....... Whistle
