EPB Service Mode

Procedure to clean out the EPB mechanism;

maybe best to consult your local dealer on this one to avoid any confusion.

Whoah!

That's not a service mode, that's the epb bedding in mode by the sounds of it. Are you sure 'service mode' came up on the display?
Sure fire way to wear your epb shoes out if you use it too much. Especially if your not doing the adjustment of the epb shoes as well. Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy,

i have heavily edited the OP as I don't want to put out any info that may be either incorrect or misleading. The procedure originally described was exactly as explained to me by LR service and certainly improved the braking efficiency of the EPB on my vehicle which clearly needed a clean-out.
The procedure was not a normal everyday braking operation, but to be used after off-roading (particularly after wading) and also after winter road use, as debris, grit, rust etc accumulates and reduces brake effectiveness.

Cheers

I personally think its not the best advice from LR and is the first time I've heard the procedure used in that way.

That procedure is listed in my brake bible but only for bedding in. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Boots, I've just been speaking to a LR guy and his advice was to only put it into that mode to reset it all, but not to do the actually driving with it. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible
