Mintex pads

I changed the front discs and pads a few weeks ago for some much better looking (and less worn) alternatives.

I really don't believe in anything but the cheapest rotors for road use, but pads are a different matter entirely.

I bought the rotors and mintex pads as they were a cheap package, but I've got to say the pads are utter $hite. They fade like hell under any sort of spirited driving. I'll be changing them for something better in the near future.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone is about to change theirs - avoid mintex!

Thumbs Up

Have they improved with bedding in?

I've used Mintex pads on a couple of my previous cars (& my wife's current car) with no problems at all. Admittedly they didn't weigh as much as the RRS so weren't working as hard, but then I don't use the brakes hard anyway.

Keep us updated. Thumbs Up I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

Can you be sure they were genuine and not Chinese counterfeits? Try contacting Mintex technical department? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

In all honesty, I have had genuine LR brake pads fade under spirited driving in a TDV8.

I use Mintex on a daily basis, and never had a single complaint Thumbs Up

Nope they've not really got any better. I'm sure its probably due to the sheer size of the vehicle though, however whatever pads were on before (even what little there was left of them) seemed to be more fade resistant.

You may be right though, they could be cheapo copies, but the box and hologram sticker looked ok to me...

I had M1144 on a hot Pug years ago and they would get hot enough to smoke yet still work. Be amazed if Mintex forgot how to make pads. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
