It is much more labour intensive than the 2.7 in any case. I expect the price of the 3.0 will increase after they have done a few Laughing

After speaking to my old service manager within the local main dealer, he expects it will be body off to replace the HPFP belt...

okay enlighten me serpentine belt changed ?

The belt at the front, external to the engine that drives the engine driven fan, power steering pump, air compressor and alternator. (in old terms - the fan belt) The work described on your link has only Cam belt at the front and High Pressure Fuel Pump at the rear and all their associated tensioners etc.

As Disco Mikey has alluded to, the serpentine belt and its associated bits and pieces need to be removed and reinstalled as part of the cam belt job so labour is already covered but you will need to pay for these new parts which should be replaced at the same time - not all that expensive.

Hi Guys

Well cambelt all done without body being removed Shocked
Also they had to change some water cover housing that had a leak?

Job done!

But........................

I'm sure I have another issue which started before the visit......after they car warms up I start to get a squealing noise from behind the passenger side glove box, they did think it could be the egr? and asked me to book back in but im away soon so thought is ask on here if anybody had any ideas.
the noise comes when you accelerate, happens after about 10 minuets of driving the car when cold no issues, when on the motor way coming back sounded like I was strangling a cat.
doesn't seem to be any loss of power and no clouds of smoke from the back. Crying or Very sad
Any input welcome.......

Chuf

Hi chufski.

Did you get all 3 belts done without the body off & where at as I’m in Shropshire area Cool
As I was told that as mine has the automatic gear box with the gear lever & not the button selector it’s a body off job due to the manifold Neutral

Try Alltrack 4x4 in Malvern. They don't lift the body for belts Thumbs Up

And FYI, we dont lift the body either. Perfectly doable with the body in situ, and managed to get the price down to £675 Inc VAT Thumbs Up

Thanks mate Thumbs Up I have been quoted £668 inc vat for front & rear belts but the first mechanic I spoke to said £668 inc vat for front & rear belts so I asked about the hpfp belt & he said that will be a body off job & over £1,000 but when I enquired again at a later date I was quoted the same £668 for all 3 belts without body off Confused All this does not include water pump replacement as I was previously advised to replace the water pump. What do you think Shocked
Baz.

Ok cheers mikey Thumbs Up would you recommend getting it done tho whilst there in there. When I brought the car I was told the timing belt was due at 10 years or 100,000 miles but I have just found out it is 7 years or 112,000 miles, more fool me for not doing my homework Mad so I really need to get it done as it’s over 2 years due & on 90,000 miles & don’t know if it has been done, tried previous owner & service book stamp garages & no luck Censored not happy & could do with some advice on what to get done Thumbs Up

whats the deal with the rear belt on the 3.0?
is it any more likely to let go than the 2.7 ?
i know the 3.0 has timing on the rear belt.... but still

i never changed the rear belt on my 2.7. also had main dealers here say they never do it.

i'll update my other post.... but short story, spent this afternoon taking enough apart to get the front belt housing cover open to see the condition of belt.
Main dealer said they did the service before i picked it up in mid February
car only has 85k Kms on it but hit 7 years old in January.

anyway... it is definitely a bit more work than the 2.7 was but not massively more.
I definitely prefer the cooling fan cover setup on the 2.7.
3.0 is enough to get the fan off... but still sticks in your way to much when working at the coalface 2007 TDV6 RRS HSE..now gone
