Enlighten me on the Autobiography.......

My M4 is now sold and I'm looking to get in to either an RRS, Cayenne or X5 M50d.

My preferred RRS is the Autobiography (not too keen on the unpainted plastic bits on the other models) but could someone please explain the options list to me as the Approved used Site is pretty crap.

Are all the options stuck on to the AB like the Cayenne GTS?

Any help appreciated lads, cheers.

Depends what options you want. An ATB is by no means "fully loaded". MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Are they worth the £5k+ sticker price over the Dynamic though?

My budget is circa £60k.

Hi Andy,

I thought you'd bought that one?

I'm just trying to see if it's worth paying the extra for the AB above and beyond a dynamic, yes you get some more extras but does that make it easier to sell on and if so will the resale price be the same difference?

You can have colour coding as an optional extra on HSE/HSE Dynamic or can get it done yourself at a body shop.

From memory (I ordered in March 2015 so may not be accurate presently), some of the extras you get in AB as standard over HSE Dynamic are:
- Colour coded bottom sills
- No cost fixed or opening glass panoramic roof option
- No cost contrast roof option
- No cost Alston headlining option
- Premium leather with the option of 2 or 3 tone seats
- More adjustments in seats as standard
- Cooled (in addition to heated) front seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Better audio system
- Bigger and more expensive alloys as standard
- Auto High Beam Assist
- No cost centre cubby coolbox option
- 3 zone climate control
- InControl Premium (not 100% sure whether HSED has that)

The list is not exhaustive btw.

As wilf said, AB isn't "fully loaded". Mine was 4-5k above the base AB price after only a few optional extras and dealer fit accessories but there was potential to go up way more than that if every box was ticked.

Whether it is worth the extra or not depends on your use/requirement of options. AB is suppsed to hold its value better than an HSE/HSED with all the AB extras added.

EDIT: Added cooled seats and 3 zone climate control. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I added cooled seats later. Thanks Tim for quantifying my vague "better audio system" Embarassed Forgot red brake calipers and WiFi (not sure whether InControl Premium includes WiFi). I deliberately left out mood lighing - the most pointless thing ever! Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I agree about the mood lighting, more Max Power than Range Rover! It was standard on my last car, I set it to white and it never moved off that! I don't have it on my present RRS and don't miss it. Certainly wouldn't pay extra for it. The instruments turning red when Dynamic mode is selected is OTT as well in my view, I would sooner have red dials 100% of the time as it or green dials are much more restful on the yes at night than white. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Wow wow wow . Back the truck up . There's nothing wrong with mood lighting. You must be doing something wrong.
1 chose a colour ( not red )
2 pull up at the traffic lights
3 quick glance at the opposition
4 select dynamic mode and watch your chosen colour turn red
5 what's not to like .

Can you tell I've got it .

Yeah. There's like an LED and a half under the centre cubby lid that changes colour. It is actually possible to notice the light it projects too ... if you know exactly where to look Rolling with laughter Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

The mood lighting on the L405 is considerably better - it tracks all along the centre console under the wood trim, along with in all four door pockets.

Why LR didn't fit the same system I don't know.

I have extended wood pack on mine, which gives you the opening cubbyholes under the armrests on the doors plus the extra mood lighting in the door pockets
