I reckon it will start about 50k/2.0 and 60k/3.0 from previous experience Confused

With that tall windscreen and profile it looks like a FFRR but it will be cheaper so should be popular for them that want a bigger LR Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

So long as it available with the option of full 4WD and Dynamic mode, the 3.0ltr V6 S/C petrol and the price isn't over 60k then I would consider it as a replacement for both my RRS and my Defender.................... But I'm sure that the price with full low ratio transfer box it will be getting on for 70k as LR will be out to milk it for all it can get as they always do with new models, and then they will hike all the other models prices too.............. Big Cry Currently though I have an expression of interest deposit down on the Tesla X and would keep the Defender for serious off-roading. I'm not interested in replacing my RRS with another diesel, especially not a 2.0ltr in a large car like the Disco5 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Looks like they raided the Evoque parts bin for the headlights and the RRS/FFRR parts bin for the tail lights.............. Makes you wonder what else has been raided from the Evoque/ DiscoSport parts bins to save money. Some of the posts on the magazine websites say that the dash is lifted straight from the DiscoSport.................. I have no object to bits you don't see being lifted from other LR products but if you are paying 60k+ then you certainly don't want bits that you see that look like they have been lifted straight from cheaper models in the ranges....... Even if they are tarted up with different graphics or a leather topper instead of recycled cola bottles.

I don't know if it is a trick of the photos but to me it looks narrower than RRS and DiscoSport, this has long been a gripe of mine as Land Rovers have got wider and wider over the years which rules me out from taking the modern products on many off-road trails where there are trees and big rocks to get between and are no problem for my Defender. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim, you can spend over 50k on a DS so I'd expect the D5 will be costing north of 70k once it's got "essential" extras added. No one will be taking it off road so size is irrelevant there.

Indeed, I expect LR to quietly drop the off road credentials over the next few years. Perhaps Defenderson will be capable, as will FFRR, but the rest of the range will become more "lifestyle" and less "real life"... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

You can't have it all folks - people have been banging on about how good Audi/BMW are for years so JLR are following their lead for cloning models Confused

If you want individuality you need to buy an old LR and preserve it or a new Korean/Malaysian model based on an old vehicle design Wink

I think the D5 looks like the FFRR and RRS not the DS which is odd as RR and Discovery are supposed to be distinctive sub brands now but regardless it will sell quicker than they can build it again despite the negative comments that it's not as nice as the old model again - this is progress folks adapt or be a dinosaur Rolling Eyes

Personally I want to see more emphasis on quality control, reliability and dealer service for the money these are commanding now because no matter how refined and prestigious they look this is what bothers me Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Dealer service is down to the dealer principals. They know they're going to get people for the first three years so they really think they have the punter over a barrel. Until punters vote with their feet/wallets it won't improve.

As for reliability. I thought that has already improved - certainly the D4 is supposedly much better than the D3.

Quality control won't improve whilst they're working every hour just building them. Holding up lines or redoing lots of vehicles just isn't possible/desirable. Until the work force take proper pride in what they're building and the money men allow them do things at more than minimum price, quality won't improve. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

To be fair reliability hasn't been a problem for me but everyone keeps banging on about it particularly JD power surveys

Quality control and dealer service has definitely been an issue for me more so in recent years Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
