Drivers Side Vent Removal

Any advice on how to remove the right hand side drivers air vent (nearest the door)? The control lever has come off the fins inside so they are stuck in the one position and can't be adjusted.

Looking at it, it seems that it could be held in by expending clips pressing against the inside of the dash but I can't see how to access them. It's the Black Edition with the leather dash so haven't been too adventurous yet in trying to get to them.

Hoping someone's either had them out or removed a dash and can give me steer as to how they're held in and how to remove them. Cheers

Take a look at www.powerfuluk.com - They sell interior bits and pieces, and have gone to the trouble of producing youtube vids on how to swap most parts over. Rangie History ....

Although they show the passenger side vent (I presume the driver's side will be the same process) - take a look here:

The video is at the bottom of the page. Rangie History ....

Hi,

It's not to difficult probably easier if you remove the complete leather bit the vent sits in.

If you look at the picture of my dash you need to remove the small triangle shape grill on the top, just get a hook shaped tool and poke it into the vent and hook just under the edge of it and give a tug and it should pop out.

You should then see a Self Tapping Screw that retains the leather trim part, remove that, pop out the Light Switch, it comes out easy enough just held in with some spring clips which are attached to the Switch and just unplug it.

The Trim part the vent sits in is just held in with those silly clips that fly off in to oblivion when you remove things, I think there is four or five of them, just grab the bottom of it and pull towards you and up as it is hooked in as well where you removed the Screw from at the top.

There may be another method to remove the vent but I found this the easiest way for me. Hope it actually makes sense.

Cheers
Col

Thanks Col, obliged, this seems to hit the spot and I'll give it a try.

Thanks Mintyuk for your link and I had seen the video, but as it referred to a 2005-9 model, I was concerned that the differences between the model years and the fact the Black Edition has the leather dash would perhaps make a difference to the removal process. Cheers
