2010 Tow Electrics Installation

I'm having the major belt service done on my RRS early next week and whilst it's in the shop I thought I'd get them to install the electrics to go with my new tow hitch...

I assumed from looking at photos of the RRS with towing capability that the 2 sockets shown under the flap on the car are one 7 pin and one 13 pin (useful for me as I tow a 7 pin horsebox and a 13 pin trailer) however I can't seem to find the correct wiring harness, all those I can find are either 7 or 13 pin (or a kit that seems to have 2 x 7 pin in it)

Am I barking up the wrong tree or just not looking in the right place?

If I am mistaken then will this https://www.pfjones.co.uk/land-rover-range...507pf.html do the job for the 7 pin?

No the two plug/socket will be 'N' and 'S' not the 13pin plug.

That is indeed what the 2 socket kit looks like...

So am i stuck with the kit I posted the link to and an adaptor then or is there such a thing as a kit with both 13 and 7 pin?

I can't say I have ever heard of a kit with 7 and 13 pin sockets but they may be available, would of thought that would make wiring them in complicated but not auto electrician.

maybe you want a 13 pin fitted to the car

and use a 7 pin adaptor when required ?

I’ve got a N and S kit on mine and have a LR adapter to 13 pin if required. I think the wiring would be a mare if even possible to have a 7 and a 13 together. 2012 5.0 SC AB

So I've gone with the 7 pin (and adaptor) option...

I believe that some coding is needed to tell the car that there's a tow kit fitted, with my old BMW the user forums had a bunch of people who offered that service in exchange for a few beer tokens, does the RRS world have the same thing or is it dealer only?

Mine worked without modifying the CCF, I think the CCF edit turns off the rear fog light when you have a trailer attached and also adjusts the suspension to compensate for the nose weight of the trailer. I wasn’t to fussed as my trailer is light weight however as I had the IID tool I changed it anyway. Unfortunately the IID tools are locked to a VIN unless you have the expensive subscription to give greater access. SDD will do it if anyone local has it. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Given what you've noted above I probably should get it coded then as I'll be towing a horsebox with a couple of horses on... probably only a few times a year but would prefer it to be "right"!
