United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Buckingham Blue
Superior SatNav/Camera solution for SE version of RRSport

Having chosen the SE version of the Sport I've always felt that the Mio/Garmin/TomTom SatNav 'stick on dash' products didn't really suit the style of the car. So I decided to invest in the latest Alpine 64 bit DvD controlled, touch screen remote controlled product. The benefit is that the touch screen fits very well into the centre dash alcove and does a very good job in impersonating the actual LR product. The unit is set as 'handbrake on' which means you can change navigation settings/destination on the move by touch screen or with a neat remote control.

From what I've read the Alpine is currently considered the best product of its kind on the market.

Here is a slideshow of the product in my car:-

The Alpine products used were:

The DvD control box is situated under the false floor at the rear of the boot, the SaNav video control box lies under the front passenger seat with easy access to video inputs (in front of the rear seat 'kick bar' and with the air circ vanes relocated above the unit), the GPS aerial is situated under the top of the boot aerofoil (which is plastic), the speed pulse is hard wired to the main control box of the car and the TMC aerial is situated on the rear quarterlight window and looks like a heater element.

When reverse is selected you get a blank screen, or rear view if a camera is fitted - I decided to have a Pioneer 'mirror image' hi lux/ low lux camera fitted in the aerofoil- very small and discreet and I must say I find it useful too.

The whole package (SatNav,Screen, Ext spkr, Speed pulse, camera) c.£1400 (The SatNav and screen was a little under £1200) plus £250 to fit , cheaper than spending the 5k to buy the HSE when the only element of the HSE I liked was the screen..!! .. and I get a camera too, and Nav on the go.

I got a great price since he's done loads of work for me over the years and he fitted at my property. He operates in the London/SE area. TDV6 SE Buckingham Blue, Alpaca, Cherry trim, Supercharger side and front grils, Privacy Glass, PTI, Roof rails&rack, Removeable tow-bar, Goodyear Wrangler F1's, Cherished plate, Alpine built in SatNav, rear view camera.......

Looks pretty slick, if I had of seen this post before ordering I would have gone for an S or an SE rather than HSE, especially if you can get a rear view camera in their also. Do you know if that pioneer reverse camera could be hooked up to an HSE? 2.7 TDV6 HSE 2007 finnally arrived

Judging by this Disco3 post it is possible to input video from a secondary source to the standard LR screen.. Still await my engineers formal reply since you need interaction with selecting reverse gear too.

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

A few of the guys over on Freel2 have managed to integrate their TomToms neatly into the slot where there should be a satnav on their cars. A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tata TDv8 HSE - Stornoway/ebony and straight grain walnut with towpack, Tasmods and an HST grille. Coming soon LEDs in the headlights
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road
