BRIEF "MISFIRE" AFTER SUBZERO START

2011 TDV6 garaged overnight.

First start of the day when it is below freezing, the engine starts perfectly with only a momentary pause for glowplugs. The engine runs smoothly for a couple of seconds, with revs slowly settling from 1200 or so, then for about a second there is what feels like a misfire and the engine rocks in its mountings enough that it can be felt within the car. Then all smooth again as revs drop slowly to normal idle. Subsequent starts are normal all day but pattern is repeated if we have a cold night.

My biggest concern is damage to the engine mounts which must be taking a beating, albeit briefly.

There are no warning lights - I should have plugged in my diagnostic computer, but only just thought about it as I was writing.

Ring any bells, anyone, anywhere?

This happened on mine the other day, like you a cold start with just a brief shaking then back to normal.

Sent mine in to the stealership for the same issue. I made sure it was when the weather was cold & it was left over night. They couldn't find any issues - it remained the same through 2 years of ownership - only ever happened on cold mornings Question seems to be a common issue Big Cry 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Thanks guys, It's comforting to know I'm not alone. I plugged in my universal code reader - there are no codes Smile Had SWMBO start up while I watched under bonnet with hand on top of engine and it didn't look or feel that dramatic.

Think I'll just ignore it - after all, temps should be rising soon. 2011 TDV6 HSE Stornoway grey, ivory trim

Exactly the same here on MY2006 , kept undercover in a barn but if I know we're going to have a temperature drop overnight I just throw a duvet over the bonnet LOL , it does work Thumbs Up No more lumpy starts on cold mornings .

I had my 2011 into local dealer yesterday for same problem took it down day before and told them it only happens in the first 10 to 15 seconds of starting then its fine the rest of the day . Result nothing on fault sensor so run it until it develops bring it back in.
So I Have to wait until we get stranded and call recovery to find fault.
