Unimaginable....

This time next year there will be 4000 Range Rover sports on sale. With 12 months MOT AN "some" service history. Eventually 2000 will buy a running MOT'd RRS, crazy eh.

Hopefully green Laners buy them, I suspect what will happen is they will be bought buy the kind of people that are currently "cruising" towns in 03/04 plate BMW X5's. Very very sad, and not good for the brand.

You should be able to afford 3 a week at those prices. I'm hanging on for 3 years so I can pick one up for a 10.

I believe there's about 20 going cheap somewhere in the Midlands, ex premier league footballers. Not heard of the dealers before: Villa Park LR.

@fdhadi

I've decided to go for a RRS2, that's not because I think the RRS1 is a bad car. But I do want to keep the car for around 18-24 months. If I bought a RRS1 now I know in 10 months I will regret it and wish I held out for a RRS2.

So instead of buying a car now and being full of regret in 10 months I would rather wait it now and buy a car in 10 months to a year knowing I I'm getting a car I will be happy with for 2 years. Not driving past a RRS2 wishing I had waited. Although worth mentioning I never been one to take credit to get something I want NOW. I have always saved to get what I want and it's taught me, although I can't have it straight away I usually get something superior to what i wanted.

A 2000 green lane machine is a nice idea but at the cost to repair these beasts, I reckon there'll be plenty being broken for spares once they throw a wobbly. I can't see the traditional "hit with a hammer" Defender guys wanting to mess around with a D3 / RRS... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It's a matter of fitting the spring/damper kit from a Disco3 and off you go, not much that can break down while greenlaning.

Oh, apart from the gearbox.
And the 2.7 TDV6
And some electronics.
And then some more.

Well, maybe it's not a matter of fitting the Disco3 kit.. Regards etc.,

Wojtek

Very wise...
So are you still saving to work your way up the property ladder too???
How far have you reached? Have you got passed a Wendy house yet?
Or are you still dreaming about that too? Laughing

I do not think you will be able to buy a RRS for 4k this time next year. Unless it is a mangled wreck. Ie a write off. Because this time next year they will still be worth more than 4k in spare parts.
By the time you have saved up for a RRS2, I think you will have gone off the idea of owning one. The time to buy one is now while residuals are low. 12 moths time when you say you think you could afford one, values will be dropping so quick, will you be coming out with the same excuses as you are now for not buying one?

Loan rates are that cheap at the moment 3.4%. Why not have your car now and finance the bit you can't afford right now, instead of saving your 500 p/m to pay off your bit of finance. Thumbs Up
Win win. You get you RRS2 now, and it will be paid off by the time you could afford one for cash.

It might stop you winging about all these people who have foolishly bought a RRS1 when they should have worked harder in life and saved up for a RRS2. Yawn

"Might" be making a life change to being more country orientated. Do I keep my current 2007 120k miler & deal with the bills or get a Mk II with the idea its less weight and should have less bills in the future?

Set of mud tyres and drive it into the ground Very Happy
