Car heating not working

My 08 RRS's Heating suddenly stopped working. The blower and all the controls work OK, just no heat coming out of them. If I put the air con on to cool then things get very cold as they should, but if it's turned up to max still no heat. I've had it into my local indie to check out the usual problems, and apart from a small leaky pipe, everything is good, No air lock or blockage in the heater matrix, all pipes are nice and hot etc
Anyone had a similar problem or knows a fix? Any ideas much appreciated..... 2008 Supercharged Stornaway Grey, 22inch black Stormers

Check the relay or most likely the module that sits in the air pipe behind the passenger glove box. Held in by two screws. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi, thanks for your reply. I've just been having a look, seems like there's a lot of relays and fuses behind the glove box. Is this the part you were talking about? How do I access it and check if it's working? Thanks

I've read on this forum about a test to do on the heating by holding down the econ and recirculate buttons, then switching on the ignition. I did this and the econ button flashed Ten times. What I need to know is what does it mean! Is that what it does when everything is OK, or when it's not OK?
Any ideas anyone please.......... Bow down 2008 Supercharged Stornaway Grey, 22inch black Stormers

Is your engine reaching temperature ?

Could be something as simple as the thermostat has gone.

This is the text from the workshop manual:

Climate Control System - General Information - Climate Control System

Diagnosis and Testing

Overview
The complexity of the system is such that it is broken down into sub-sections.

For a detailed description of climate control operation, refer to the relevant section of the workshop manual.
Distribution motor self-test
The motor and flap operation can be checked using the on-board distribution motor self-test function.
The self-test can be initiated by pressing and holding the ECON and RECIRC buttons while turning the ignition switch to the ON
position.
The control module will then compare the current motor position with the values stored in the module and will indicate an error by
flashing the ECON LED (light emitting diode).

If there are no errors, the LED will go out and the system will function normally.

To confirm that there are no errors, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then back to the ON position.
Observe the operation of the programmed defrost LED.
If there are errors present, the programmed defrost LED will flash and the system will attempt to calibrate itself.
For additional information on the function of the system, refer to the relevant section of the workshop manual.

(from the symptom chart)

Check the coolant level, viscous fan operation, etc. Carry out the distribution
motor self-test. Refer to the relevant section of the workshop manual. Check for
DTCs indicating a module fault (refer to the DTC index below). 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

The drivers side heating is getting hot now, but only on low fan settings. If I turn the blower up high it goes cool again. The passenger side blows cold all the time. When I tried the air con self test, the defrost light never flashed at all after turning the ignition back on.!
The car gets upto temperature OK and the needle sits in the middle, rock steady, but sometimes after a few miles I can hear the cooling fan on for some reason. 2008 Supercharged Stornaway Grey, 22inch black Stormers

There’s possibly either a problem with one of the temperature sensors linked to the climate control which is indicating the cabin temp is warmer than it actually is, or there’s an issue with the air mix temperature control flap motors. The only way to determine what is causing your problem is to check for any faults stored with something like an IID tool and to also check live values for the climate control are what you would expect them to be. i.e. if the cabin is cold, is the climate control ecu seeing the same or has a temperature sensor gone out of calibration?

holding 2 buttons down just allows you to see the fault codes
