Bike racks

Morning all,

Trying to find a good combination of rear and roof mounted bike racks that are also compatible with towing a caravan.

Looked at Thule high level only to find out they're not compatible with my 07' RRS. I know we can get 2-3 on the roof but we need to transport 5 bikes. So if anyone has any good info on rear bike racks that don't use the towball that would be great.

Thanks

I have 3 Thule 591s on my Disco. At least one other Disco3 member has 4 of them with the standard bars. Without checking the dimensions, I would guess that you'd also get 4 on the RRS too. The OE bars don't have the best available width so it might be possible to squeeze 5 on with some other bars, or at least get the 4 on? Idea

Could you stick one or two in the caravan?

I'm also in this position- although I only need to move 4. I was planning 3 on the roof and one in the van. I'm in the states at the moment and have noticed a lot of motor homes are mounting bikes on the front bumper- God help the pedestrians!

maxxraxx, i have the 4 bike version with the extension to raise the bikes up above the towbar to allow me to tow at the same time

very pleased, and the fact it stows away so much smaller than the thule one i have that doesn't allow me to tow

you would need the fixed tow bar though, as I'm not sure they do one for the removable that allows towing at the same time

cheapest place i found was roof box company, with the caravan club discount of 5%

Can I ask a really silly question?

Why on earth do people carry their bikes on their car on a journey when they are towing a caravan? Surely there's all that space inside the (currently) empty (I hope!) caravan for them? Seen in numerous times and just thought wtf Rolling Eyes
