Scotland 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Izmir Blue
RRS 2008 HSE 2.7 problem after problem

Had our Izmir Blue RRS a year now and encountered the following problems already;
Breached brake line spraying brake fluid onto undercarriage.
Failed electronic handbrake actuator complete with terrible noise and warning light - had to leave off and in gear when stopped.
Squealing brakes all round despite brakes not applied even after brakes cleaned of dust etc.
Rear brake shoes inside disc rapidly worn out destroying decent discs.
Failed spare wheel winch.
Failed reverse parking sensor.
Undercarriage seems ok but lots of visual corrosion.
Battery showing signs of weakness had to jump lead twice now.
Alloy wheels keep cracking on inside rim leaving us with flat tyres.
Beginning to wonder why I deviated from my Mercedes ML320 which never let me down!

Think since the brake line went the whole braking system has not been set up correctly causing mayhem.
Used you tube guidance and listened for clicks on parking sensors to worked out which one was faulty and found it (could be cabling brake or sensor apparently!) in meantime sensor bleeps constantly when in reverse and has to be cancelled by hand.
Had to butcher the spring/cable below the spare wheel with an angle grinder to get the spare off. Winch kingpin was dislodged at base of sealed unit (probably due to over tightening in past or corrosion) - crap unreliable system that's not user friendly for females.
New alloys needed to replace twice weld repaired items - alloys are too weak.
All LR brakelines need replaced due to corrosion.
Reckon £2k should cover it- LOL.
New rear discs pads and actuator needed - crap unreliable system.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Welcome to the forum David, that's certainly an unhappy post.
Sounds like a previous owner might have been using the car to launch and recover a boat/ jet ski from salt water and hasn't washed it off afterwards. Regarding the wheels - I wouldn't say it is completely unknown for alloys to crack BUT if they are LR OEM's then it is extremely rare, like in 11 years membership ship here I can only recall a single report of a cracked OEM wheel. There are lots and lots of fake LR wheels on the market (they also fit on Renault and VW vans!)and also many after market wheels that look lovely but just cannot take the weight of an RRS. Can you post some photos of the wheels and the repairs?

Regarding the brake problems - there are numerous reports on the forum of certain brands of discs and pads having heavy wear and causing binding/ howling - IIRC Britparts parts are one make to avoid. The LR OEM parts are reasonable price (unlike many LR parts!) ands seem to work best

Who have you been using to do the repair work - a local general garage, a Land Rover dealership or non-franchise indie Land Rover specialist? These cars do need specialists to look after them.

You should contact Disco_Mikey ( look for his posts for his contact details) on the forum as he isn't far from you and is a walking bible on things Discovery3-4 and RRS, he has a workshop now and I'm not sure if he still does mobile servicing/ repairs. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I would also suggest that you get the rear callipers looked at as they can seize/part seize, which causes excessive and/or uneven wear. I've had both mine replaced in the last 2 years, one after chewing through a new disc Sad

Replace brake pipe with copper one. Mine burst due to corrosion and apparently well known for that.

Sounds a horrible experience and no doubt tainting your range rover experience but look on the bright side alot of this stuff can be sorted easily and cost effectively and yput get great support and info on the forums... being an ex mercedes owner I can say more so with the land rovers than the mercs...

undercarriages I have seen a few with rust and even online the cars they work on have rust but seems just minor pitting or surface rust rather than let's call it mercedes rust !

Get your battery voltage read or the battery charged to full and see how that goes before considering a new Bat.

Park sensors just work out which one is bad from powerful uk video and replace it as one bad sensor takes the whole system out.

Just a few niggles I'm sure you can sort them out tackle the minors get them off the list

as for alloys are you running aftermarket or 22s?
