MY2013 RRS 3.0 litre turbo fault P1247-00

Driving home yesterday and red triangle come up on dash, restricted performance on display.
Had Land Rover assist out to it this morning, he said its either actuator or turbo blown, car has covered 22k.
Waiting for landrover to sort me out a courtesy car.
Not a happy bunny
Is this a common issue

Happened to me three times on my 13.5MY HSE Black.

LRA called out each time - then passed to supplying dealer.

1st time tried WD40 on the CSOV valve (turbo changeover valve)
2nd time changed the entire CSOV valve.
3rd time car had extensive diagnostics directed by the factory and the primary turbo was U/s. Body off and new turbo!

Tech checked old and new turbo's side by side on bench and original turbo actator arm was in the wrong position! We reckon the turbo was hitting the end-stop and causing the fault code and restricted performance when full boost was demanded (heavy rIght foot) as fault clears if car left for 30 mins to do a full shut down/reset.

On the plus side, fuel consumption has reduced by about 10-15% and mid range the acceleration now is stunning. Performance nearly made me reconsider ordering a new L494 AB for March 16 delivery. Still puts a smile on my face cross-country.

Been faultless for 14 months since turbo change!

Day 3 and still no car been sorted.
I understand Land Rover used to use enterprise car hire for courtesy vehicles with assist issues.
This has now changed and they now organise internally, so frustrating when all I want is my car sorting.
If not sorted tomorrow will be ringing customer services to raise a complaint.

I will be tomorrow morning,
Just plain rude, even if they haven't found me a car to use a call to update would have been nice.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Atacama Sand

TADT (dealer not the car), it appears to be a necessary qualification to be a LR dealer

Re the car, mine (2013 model) has had the restricted performance problem on long trips for the last 6 months. Here's the attempts at rectifying it

1. Changed clips to hold hoses tighter
2. Diagnosed faulty turbo
3. Take car in to have new turbo fitted, came out only with a new CSOV valve.
4. New manifold air valve fitted
5. Going in next week for extensive diagnostics directed by LR after me paying the Dealership Principal a visit to vent my views on the inefficiency of his dealership following 3 days of failed returned calls from his staff to discuss the next step. I also made sure he was aware of the deplorable service I have had from this dealership over the past 6 months which I detailed in a previous thread.

Here's what I was told:
Although a possible fault with the turbo has previously been diagnosed LR will not authorise a replacement until other remedies have been tried (hence 3 & 4 above). It is a known fault and in some cases replacing the turbo has not solved the problem even though the fault code suggests the turbo. The last one they did turned out to be a fault on one of the looms.

So car goes in next week for extensive diagnostics which I am told could take up to 2-3 weeks since everything they do will be directed remotely by LR and after completing each stage it will be tested & results reported back to LR. Courtesy car will be a Discovery Sport.

My car will be changed next year and the outcome of this latest event will determine if a LR even makes it on to the list of possible replacements

Minshy,

Sorry to hear that - hopefully you'll get the same benefit I did.

Would be interesting to see if your actuator arm is mis-aligned too. Might be worth asking your dealer to do a comparison between old & new during the replacement.

My car was built Jan 13 - I wonder if there are a batch of dodgy turbo's around?

Hi mate,
Let's hope so, it might get rid of the flat spot I sometimes suffer when setting off.
I am going to ask the question about the actuator when they update me at the end of the week.
I am not too happy about the discovery sport they gave given me, it's like driving a bloody go-kart. Laughing
Mine was registered March 2013, not sure on build date. I assume it is built into chassis number but not surge

Hi mate,

Mine was registered 1st March too -hence the engines could be a close batch match.
